Nicole Mary Kidman was born in Hawaii. She’s still Australian because of her parents. She has another version of her name, but in Hawaiian, which is Hōkūlani.
After her parents wrapped up their intentions in Hawaii, their family moved back to Australia, and mainly, Kidman grew up in Sydney. Here she attended primary school, and while doing so, she already showcased her then hidden talent of acting.
She continued her studies in Sydney’s Phillip Street Theatre. Kidman persevered and pushed through her passion for acting, practicing, and performing on-stage while giving her everything to the craft.
Her earliest on-screen appearance began in 1983, and also served as her debut. She starred in Bush Christmas, the first project in which she received a role, and on the second one BMX Bandits.
This debut, however, wasn’t enough to increase her popularity, but the 1989 film Dead Calm did so. It was also considered her breakthrough as a film actress.
She later came to Hollywood and made a performance for Days of Thunder. After that, she secured many lead roles in more Hollywood films, including Far and Away, Batman Forever, To Die For, and Eyes Wide Shut.
In this time, she also made several achievements in her career by winning the Best Actress in Academy Awards. This special recognition is for her portrayal of Virginia Woolf in The Hours, a 2002 film.
She continued starring in many movies that are also widely-recognized by many, including her 2001 film Moulin Rouge!. That year too, Kidman appeared in the film Others.
In 2003, Kidman starred in two more films, Cold Mountain and Dogville. Landing on projects is easier for Kidman, thanks to her experiences and acting knowledge.
She also appeared in several drama-themed movies like Rabbit Hole; a film premiered in 2010 and Lion, which hit the theaters in 2016.
Her latest projects include the 2018 film, Destroyer, and DC’s Aquaman which also premiered the same year. In 2019, she starred in the movie Bombshell.
