Youtube personality Jazz Jennings rocked the entire world when she became the first transgender child to be documented publicly. Jennings showed the world that she is not going to stand idle by on the issues of transgender people and the LGBTQ community. Greg and Jeanette Jennings welcomed baby Jazz Jennings on October 6, 2000. Ever since Jazz was little, she always wanted to become a female. At the age of five, Jazz got diagnosed with gender dysphoria. By the time she can decide what to wear, Jazz wanted feminine clothes.
During Jazz’s childhood, she attended a sleepaway camp for transgender children. She also attended an online school called Broward Virtual School and graduated in 2019and was valedictorian. After high school, Jazz got accepted at Harvard, but she decided to delay her entrance.
The Jennings family opened up their lives to the public when they decided to film their journey about the challenges of living as a transgender person. I Am Jazz: A Family in Transition was the title of the Jennings’ show and premiered on TLC. However, Jazz and her family still showed the world the realities of being transgender and how the family coped up with Jazz’s orientation.
TransKids Purple Rainbow Foundation supported all the transgender youth and got established by the Jennings family. Aside from her TV show, Jazz created a fashion line called Purple Rainbow Tails. The fashion line sells rubber mermaid tails. The income of the business goes to the support of transgender children.
By the end of 2013, Jennings started to write a book with Jessica Herthel entitled I Am Jazz, which is about her life as a transgender person. Jennings’ successful effort to be recognized as a transgender child got her a spot at Time’s ‘The 25 Most Influential Teens of 2014’. She also became the youngest person to be featured on Out’s ‘Out 100’ and ’40 Under 40’ of the LGBT-interested magazine, Advocate.
Her show, I am Jazz: A Family in Transition, finally premiered on TLC in July 2015 and had four full seasons. In one episode of the four seasons, Jazz and her mom discussed the possibility of her getting a breast implant. However, she finally decided not to get one since her boobs already developed after taking estrogen. The pills also helped in Jazz’s full female appearance, including the development of her great ass. In the fifth season in 2019, she finally had her gender confirmation surgery.
Jazz Jennings’ surgery became a hot topic in the LGBTQ headlines. After the surgery, Jazz finally had the chance to go to the beach in a bikini and celebrate her freedom as a full-grown woman.
