Love gained further fame after meeting Kurt Cobain in 1991. Cobain is the frontman of the rock band Nirvana. The romantic relationship between the two rock performers became highly publicized in the 90s.
In 1993, the couple made their sole performance in the Rock Against Rape concert, where they sang a duet of “Where Did You Sleep Last Night” and “Pennyroyal Tea.” The two got married at a beach in Hawaii in 1992. They have one child named Frances Bean.
In the course of their relationship, the two suffered from drug abuse. In 1994, Cobain committed suicide by shooting a gun on his head.
Being the wife of a rock icon gave Love a much-needed boost in her music career. Record companies began to take notice of her music. Her band released its second album Live Through This in 1994, shortly after Cobain’s death.
After receiving commercial success, the group released its third album, Celebrity Skin, in 1998. The entire recording made it on several modern rock charts, including the ninth spot in the Billboard charts.
Aside from singing, Love also tried acting. She starred in films including Sid and Nancy, The People vs. Larry Flynt, Man on the Moon, and Julie Johnson.
