sharenator tech

So I've seen a few posts about the servers and such but they're old so I want to know what tech Paul and Darius (spelling?) use for keeping sharenator nice and quick, what tech we sharenator use for everyday stuff and so on. I use a desktop PC with 12 gigs of ram with 2 120 gig hard drives and 1 tera bite ext. hard drive, and for my work I use a computer that I don't even want to get into because even I'm not sure what the hell is in it. For my phone and other tech I have a droid and an Ipod touch (really the only apple product I have). Rachel on the other hand is crazy about apple stuff. So what do you all use?

I don't need fast computer because I don't play games at all. I work with two tools only Google Chrome and Zend Studio 5. I have one PC at home, one at office and use HP laptop at my parents house it isn't even mine. And now I'm planning to buy this baby one day: http://www.laptopmag.com/review/laptops/acer-aspire-one-d255.aspx

This may sound counter intuitive, but I found that you can be more productive with a less powerful computer. I have a Dell core2duo/2GB RAM laptop. It's powerful enough to run all programs I need to work on Sharenator (Chrome, Google Docs, Notepad++, Photoshop, putty and foobar2000) and it looks nice (hey, that's important!). But, as Darius mentioned, try installing a brand new PC game - it won't load. Work it is then. It's like a trap - you want to take this nice looking laptop into your hands, but all you can do with it is work.
It sucks at lan parties. I'm usually stuck with older multiplayer games like counter-strike, Age of Empires II or starcraft.
My office desktop is AMD 64 bit 2 GHZ, 2 GB RAM machine. No need to upgrade it yet. Works great as it is and I would rather spend my money on a snowboarding trip. There's a high contrast 22' monitor, it makes working with Photoshop much easier.

Now this is something we need to upgrade. Sharenator is running on 4-6 servers. The main server is a quad core i5 xeon, 2x1 TB HDD, 8 GB RAM. Another 3 servers are being used to deliver files. These are lower-end machines (you don't need anything fancy to deliver static files), configured to push 100 mbit/s each. 2 servers are under maintenance due to hardware problems. This setup may change very soon. Sharenator has grown and we need more resources to handle the traffic.

i was wondering of sharenator seemed to be slower, but I didn't know if it was just my horrible wifi connection, or if there were server problems..

i have a macbook pro, 13" running OSX Snow Leopard. about 2.3GHz, 4gigs of ram, and a a 256gb hard drive. i like mac software but they dont give you too much power to work with. so i bought 2- 5 inch m-Audio studio speakers, a 32" tv to hdmi cable connect to for movies, and 2- 2tb external hard drives
