I just finished Little Brother by Cory Doctorow

It is a fictional story set in Bay Area and follows seventeen year old tech-geek, Marcus Yallow's, journey after the Bay Bridge and BART is blown up by terrorists.

I really loved this book even though it targeted at a younger audience. It was an eye opener.

Rating: 5 - Good writer, the book pulls you in.

I don't know what book I'm reading next. I'm in a book club and we haven't chosen our new book yet.

Hi castle. I'm sorry you are having a hard time and I wish things were better for you. You have every right to be angry and hurt and frustrated. Your dad reminds me of my dad.

Now that my dad is gone, the one thing that makes me sad is I never really got to know my dad as a person. All I knew was dad. As I got older it became clear that my parents aren't perfect, they're human and weren't prepared for every thing that came at them. We can never prepare for life, just go with what life throws at us and try to learn. Kids don't come with instructions and my parents made mistakes by just making choices they thought were the best at the time.

I'm not trying to make light of what you feel. What you feel is very real and I've felt some of those same things. Getting a new perspective helped me through many hard times.

I got the parental advisory in two tries...

This is great! I put in "hugs: and the hunter and bear run to each other. The hunter wraps his legs around the bear and the spin. Then I tried "dances with" and they dances. Then I put "sings with" and the bear play a harp. OMG there are many more.

Hell all I need is to feel beautiful, loved and wanted. It is my own issues and self involvement that keep me from feeling I am and that person is loving me in their own way (we all show love in different ways).

That and sex (or some variation of) all the time...like everyday...twice a day.

...maybe three times if I'm really in the mood.

I love to dream. I've done a lot of research on dreams and the symbolism within them. Dreams are so fascinating and can give you a lot of insight into a part of yourself that you aren't aware of. I've had a few epic dreams but lucid dreams/false awakening dreams are by far the strangest I've experienced.

Thanks for the post tbart2010!

You know my co-worker said the exact same thing about the teenage girl. I don't really understand that statement but I do. I mean, yes she could have gotten away with a lot more before and then the officer finally had enough but she doesn't appear to be resisting to me. It seems she was asked to take her shoes off and in true teenage form she kicked her shoes out the door and then the one officer went for her.

In the second video, I couldn't find the original unedited version. In the original, you see the shooting officer first reach around his body with his right hand toward his taser while he still had his knee in Oscar Grant's back. It was rumored that the cop thought he was reaching for his taser...which is bullshit if the rumor is true. You also see Oscar Grant in the seated position before he is put face first on the ground...but Oscar gets up on his knees (it is unclear in the video if he was asked to get up) which could have made the cops cautious. Keep in mind that these are only transit officers and not police officers. BART has their own police. I am not sure if the BART police go through the same training as police officers.

I do agree that sometimes it comes down to criminals with badges. I think there are two types of police officers, those that abuse the power they are given and those that really want to make a difference in the world. I've known some wonderful officers and I've known some that weren't.

There is a very fine line here we all (officers, the law, and the public) walk. Do you think that if the law stood behind officers a bit less that more people would resist? Do you think that if the law continues to stand behind officers in these situations there will eventually be more cop killings?

Ok so first of all I work in the Ag industry in Cali. Second, lets just forget the field work for a second. You forget about the packing plants where immigrant workers check quality so people don't have rotted or imperfect produce. Next let us think about how immigrant labor is much cheaper for a farmer than purchasing a machine. We are all perpetuation an imperfect system.

I don't begrudge people wanting a better life but I do get upset that my taxes are paying for people not paying taxes themselves. And no illegal immigrants are not paying taxes. You have to have a SSN to get taxes taken out. If you have a SSN then you aren't illegal. Illegal immigrants get the benefit of food stamps with paying the price we do. I find that unfair because there are others out there that aren't breaking the law who can not get the help afforded to illegal immigrants.

I'm all for immigrants coming to America to make a better life but it should be legally and they should have to pay the price everyone does to benefit.

My mom and dad were young parents. They may have not made the best choices but they were pretty damn good. My mom was 18 and my dad was 22 when they married. My mom was 19 and my dad was 24 when they had me...my dad had just turned 24 on Feb 2nd, I was born on Feb 18th and my mom would soon turn 20. My mom just turned 50 today. My dad made it a little over three weeks past his 54th birthday. He passed away on Feb 25th, 2010.
