The funny thing is that when the theory evolution was young, the church supported it. (God creates things that self determinate? COOL!!!) Religious leaders from way back when are likely rolling in their graves, not all of them were anti-science and the vast majority didn't take the bible completely literally. This Christian fundamentalism is something new.

I'm really sorry to hear about this. I've got Lab and as much as his hyperactivity annoys me at times, I'd be miserable if he died..which is why I have a pretty big appreciation for my pup (Taking him to the part to play Frisbee all the time, since I know it's the high point of his day. )

If my understanding of the law is correct (Canadian anyway) They have to give you a reason to search you, especially when they lack evidence. How much weed did you have on you? In Canada if it's anything less than 5 grams, they'll just take it from you (maybe a fine) and leave it at that. The paraphernalia is legal here as well, you're not not allowed to use them for weed. I'm not even sure they can charge you with possession if they don't find any pot.

To think, CEO's in the US go ballistic if the gov't suggests upping their tax rate a few %'s.

Adoption doesn't really benefit anyone unless the child is actually adopted, which doesn't always happen. That, and why would you expect a rape victim to go through with a pregnancy? Seems pretty cruel to make a women give birth to her rapist's child.

I was with you until you called a bundle undifferentiated of stem cells a parasite. Two completely different things. Parasites are an organism of completely different species living off of a host animal. Very different. An embryo, like I just said is made up of stem cells that haven't fully developed into anything. Hard to be a parasite when your cells have yet to determine their function.

Another funny thing. They're quick to bash Hillary, but the second any of us liberals point out Sarah Palin or Michelle Bachman's obvious lack of intelligence or sophistication, all of a sudden we're sexist. XD

I don't even get it, why all the hate for Hillary Clinton? (I'm not a fan, but she seems to draw a lot of undeserved hate and immaturity from the right.)

This is precisely why I own a lab. Big, but usually quiet. Assuming he gets enough exercise.

No different really. Some people don't need to convince themselves there's a god to enjoy life. Heck, the idea some some all powerful all knowing being is keeping tabs on humanity scared the crap out of me. Atheism is a huge relief. Even if I could make myself believe, Religion in general doesn't make much sense to me. I can't convince myself that being with the power and sophistication to create the universe would expect or need people to follow religions.
