Shock, should he have really won? The dead line for nomination, I think, was Feb 1st, 2009. So what could he have done in one month to actually get the Nobel. I mean he didn't create the "League of Nations" after WWI or anything. So, I do know why he won. Maybe for what he's going to do? Maybe? I'm not hating, I'm just curious why he won.

Please see below direct from the The Norwegian Nobel Committee

The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided that the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009 is to be awarded to President Barack Obama for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples. The Committee has attached special importance to Obama's vision of and work for a world without nuclear weapons.
Obama has as President created a new climate in international politics. Multilateral diplomacy has regained a central position, with emphasis on the role that the United Nations and other international institutions can play. Dialogue and negotiations are preferred as instruments for resolving even the most difficult international conflicts. The vision of a world free from nuclear arms has powerfully stimulated disarmament and arms control negotiations. Thanks to Obama's initiative, the USA is now playing a more constructive role in meeting the great climatic challenges the world is confronting. Democracy and human rights are to be strengthened.
Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future. His diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world's population.
For 108 years, the Norwegian Nobel Committee has sought to stimulate precisely that international policy and those attitudes for which Obama is now the world's leading spokesman. The Committee endorses Obama's appeal that "Now is the time for all of us to take our share of responsibility for a global response to global challenges."

I honestly think that it was more the Nobel committee giving him... encouragement. Basically saying, "So, you have made all of these promises. They are exactly in line with what we believe to be a peaceful world and America. We are giving you the prize on hope. Now, if you fail, you disgrace not only you and America, but Nobel as well. Get your butt in gear, sir."

And hopefully, it works!

What Obama needs to stop doing is spreading the wealth. He needs to get rid of the national debt first of all, he needs to stop using the tax payers money to pay for $60,000 surgeries of guys who beat eachother up in jail, and most of all he needs to actually set all of his other plans into motion rather than telling everybody how they work.

Although I don't like a lot of his policies, I don't like McCain's either. I don't really think there was a good choice, so let's hope this is the lesser of two evils. And no, I don't see why he got the prize.

He should not have been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize based off of his promises. But with the amount of changes that have already taken place in less than 1.5 year (more than Bush did in 8 years), he would have received it eventually.

If he can fix immigration, I give him permission to take the next 2 years off.
