eh? so they will encourage customer's to buy their product... by copying an existing product but not quite making it as good? that makes sense. the only thing that i can think of that would make me contemplate buying a 360 is the cross game chat. other than that what advantages are their? and before you go on about exclusives, i dont care, they are crap and i wouldnt even buy them so it wouldnt make me want to buy one. im thinking give me a list of everything that could possibly make me want a 360 and i will tell you why that doesnt make me want to get one instead
Dude... The 360 controller was *already* hailed as the most comfortable, ergonomic, and high-quality controller basically ever. And they just made it better. Yes, the PS3 controller has sixaxis, but from what I hear it's pretty gimmicky. If not, fine, but when a controller isn't based MAINLY on motion, I'm happier not having to worry about what position I'm holding it in.
Also, as a slightly-to-the-side point, the 360's snap-on keyboard fits the controller like a glove, is placed *below* the controls where your thumbs can reach the keys a hundred times more easily, and doesn't require its own power source. It is EXTREMELY handy.

right... because my PS3 controller has been severely unconfortable to hold for the 3 years that i have had it. (FOR ALL YOU DUMBASSES THAT IS SARCASM. ITS ABSOLUTLEY PERFECT!) the left analog stick is in the wrong place on a 360. the trigger are stupid, the concave sticks are stupid, the AA battery system is stupid. i can use my PS3 dualshock 3 for weeks without having to charge it, and when it does run out i simply plug it in and keep playing. when your 360 controllers run out you have to either charge the batteries back up, or replace them with brand new batteries. EXTRA costs.
NONONONO, I'm not saying the PS3's controller is uncomfortable. It's not. What I AM saying is that the 360's controller is extremely comfortable. Maybe more so than the PS3's, maybe not. But the 360's left stick is not in the wrong place; it just depends on what you're used to. I find the PS3's left stick to be uncomfortable because it requires bending my thumb into a position I'M not used to. The triggers are actually very comfortable, work very well, and are also pressure-sensitive, making them perfect for things like racing games where you want to be able to push on the "gas pedal" to varying degrees (assuming, of course, that you don't have a steering wheel controller to use instead). The concave sticks are very comfortable and do a very good job of keeping your fingers from slipping off during intense use - which I'm not using as a comparison, because I don't know for sure whether or not the PS3's do the same. Using AA batteries in a 360 controller is an OPTION, not a requirement; official first-party rechargeable batteries are widely available at relatively low cost, are commonly used, have the battery cover built-in, are commonly sold together with a play-and-charge cable that allows you to plug your controller into the console and do just that, and allow for plenty of charging options, such as a battery-recharging station that plugs into the wall and lets you charge two extra battery packs at once, just in case you'd rather hot-swap the battery packs instead of plugging your controller into the console.
I'm not saying the 360's controller is better than the PS3's, I'm saying that it's at least as good as the PS3's and I'd rather you not insult it. It seems absolutely perfect to me, just as the PS3's seems absolutely perfect to you.

What I have noticed, as someone who owned a Playstation for most of his life, and someone who has owned an Xbox for the past 4 years, is that you are most comfortable with whatever controller you have been using most. When I first picked up the big, clunky original Xbox controller, I said "wtf!?", but I got used to it and the Playstation controller seemed a bit too small after a while. Then I got the 360, had the same reaction, and finally, had the same result. The PS and Xbox controllers aren't quite right to me now. Anyhow, that's my two cents.
you're just a cheap bastard that gets thrills off of downing people one by one on MW 2 because you modded your controller to make any weapon a rapid fire weapon.
so basically... what they have done here is change the controller to enable it to be more like a PS3 controller! are microsoft finally admitting that their console is a failure? the new console has been given the same finish as an original PS3, the controllers are now being made more like a PS3. HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA
Actually, Microsoft is making a smart move. Both the PS3 and Xbox 360 have their advantages and Microsoft is taking the things that people like about the PS3 and adding them to the Xbox 360, thereby removing some of the advantages of owning a PS3. This is seen as a business move to encourage customer's to buy their product over that of their competitor.
I agree with you completely live wire :)
Yea I used to have a PS3 and the free online was awesome, and I can definitely understand how that is a deciding factor for a lot of people.
One thing I think we can all agree on is that CONTROLLERS ARE FUCKING EXPENSIVE! I watched this vid only to find out that the controller is almost $70. It's like this for every console and it's ridiculous!

The only difference in marketing between sony and microsoft is that microsoft makes you pay for xbox live when PSN is free. I myself have sexbox live and thoroughly enjoy it. One thing microsoft could change is the download blocks due to ratings. Like I can't download demo's rated RP (rating pending). I forgot that you're not supposed to put your actual age on there. Therefore until my birthday (28th of this month) I can't download mature and RP rated demos. I'm not even sure microsoft/xbox live keeps track of your age.
and lets not forget, PSN kinda sucks... no party chat and stuff like that. i cant chat with a bunch of my friends and family while i play a single player game. i mean... XBL is $50 for 13 months, but i think it's well worth the money (and really... its less than $4 a month...
And also microsoft is bumping the prices for xbox live. As of november a 12 month gold will be $60.00 -________-
i thought you were arguing for wii. nobody likes the ps3 controller except you. its trigger feels like a stupid flipper instead of a trigger. the ONLY difference between this 360 and its old one is the rarely used D-pad, which comes in handy to have it like the PS3 for things like... typing, and playing old arcade games on XBLA. in which case i usually use the joystick anyway. the 360 controller is concave instead of convex, so your thumb fits into it, giving you a better grip. and 360 fits my hand. the PS3 is made for tiny japanese hands... i found my hand cramping up while playing ps3.
and spec wise, though the ps3 has a better processor.. the xbox360 has the better graphics card. depending on opinions of course... framerate vs quality. ... keep in mind PS3=nvidia, 360=ATI

lets face facts here. if you get cramp using the ps3 controller, your either doing it wrong or playing too much. the analog sticks convex grip works fine and if you cant use it you must be retarded. overall the ps3 is just better. i can buy an extra game each year for the same price as XBL. and what are you paying for? cross game chat and that is it. if i wanted to spend £35 on talking to people i would buy credit for my phone, use skype, it really doesnt bother me as i can use many other things to talk to people i want to talk to.
