"Jamboree" just basically means a massive meeting/meetup thing. Originally it was used as "The Scout Jamboree", as in a worldwide scout camp every 4 years. It comes from the word "Jambo" which means "Hello" in Kenyan. The inventor of Scouting (Lord Baden Powell) was a soldier and spent a lot of time in Kenya and thats where he learned lots of the stuff about scouting. He then relayed this information to 10 children on a weekend camp on a small island (Brownsea Island) in England, on the 1st - 8th August 1907 and thats how scouting was invented.
Lots of scouting is based on Kenya's stuff. Even down to things like shaking using your left hand - where normally you would shake with the right hand (put your sword down and hold onto your shield), you instead put your shield down and held your sword. Its a sign of trust, that if someone were to attack the person you were going to shake hands with, you could defend them using the sword.
Well we need cooks and maids while the men are out trading and learning and how else was I to keep concentrated on those things if I was constantly abstaining from activities done with the opposite sex.
In autumn, ours was the beach-like one with the massive beach ball tent, right outside the "ICA Supermarket". If you don't remember, it ill fetch a picture of it :P
