We know Windows code is poorly written but we still buy it
Code doesn't even compile.

We laugh from it, but we still use it.

My cousin says the Windows Vista has too much secerity, like trying to veiw his own pics the secerity thing pops up, and that even happened when he tried to play a game created BY Microsoft! I hope they take that out when they make the Windows 7 (We still don't know the real name, this name is only temporary.) or I'll be using the Windows XP for most of my life!

And now we have Windows 7 to worry about. Free copies for the people who were smart enough to wait until now to by a computer with Vista on it. Windows 7 is supposed to be the last operating system that Microsoft introduces... They will however, update it every three months to the point where the most updated version of 7 is an entirely new OS anyways. I'm getting that free upgrade! Anybody else getting it?

I've heard its really awesome. I just got confirmation yesterday that my free upgrade is on its way. I'll put up a post or something when I get it to tell everybody how awesome it supposedly is.

If you buy a computer with Vista between now and sometime around the end of the year and the beginning of next... (I think its January 31, but don't hold me to that) ...You can qualify for the free upgrade. I don't know if they will do that though if you're still in Lithuania.

Thanks for info :) I got my Vista laptop this summer (so no free upgrades), but I qualify for a discount upgrade. Can't wait to try it out.

If you have the RAM and setup your machine the right way, Vista runs just fine. I have had mine for over a year now and I have had no troubles to speak of

i loved vista, it installed everything automatically. even printers! don't blame an OS for viruses, its no less secure than any other, but nobody programs viruses for other OS's because theyre not as popular, and you want viruses to affect as many computers as possible (when programming them). but if you know how to use a computer properly, you should have no problem.

for a living, im a PC technician. the people who are good with computers almost never have virus problems, the people who say things like "my computer is messed up, when i open the screen, theres nothing in the box, and this thing pops up, but i fix it by closing it, (instead of reading it)" instead of saying "when i open up internet explorer, it says 'cannot display webpage', and symantec keeps opening up telling me i'm infected with a virus" get viruses all the time, and have the most complaints about windows and microsoft.

99.999% of windows problems are user problems.

With regards to the error message, there is an error. A user error - buying this thing. Vista itself is trying to warn them away, but they're not listening...

Vist runs lots of rediculous background programs which makes typing this take 5 mins.

I still dont particluarly get the gaming argument, but from what I have read (My Source), OpenGL is actually far superior to DirectX. It's probably two main reasons only why game developers use DirectX...

    1) They are probably backhanded/promoted to by Microsoft
    2) (Possibly?) easier to use/develop with?

Apart from that, OpenGL is more customisable, open source, runs on multiple devices other than JUST Windows or Xbox and more powerful.
