Topics of the Week

This is of last week, 8/21
Doing it now because I don't feel like waiting five or six days.

We'll start with,

Hurricane Irene
Alright, I know. I got flamed and crushed for my other post about this, but the damage has been done and I was obviously wrong. Here are some photos of the destruction Irene has done to the East Coast.

In summary, the East Coast got severely damaged from the storm, leaving over 5 million people without power, and around 27 people reported dead. Obviously, the states along the coast prepared the best they could, but just weren't built to handle hurricanes.

Staying on the topic of weather, there are two other tropical depressions. Jose, which is expected to die out soon and won't reach the U.S, and Twelve. "Twelve" is at the moment a depression, but expected to be a hurricane category 2 by September 3rd. It is currently off the western coast of Africa, and looks to be headed towards the Carribean Islands and East Coast of the United States. Although it's path can vary at any time. Hurricane season is back folks.
Edit: It it now Tropical Storm Katia and is now expected to be a category 3 by September 4th.

<b>Gadhafi Flees

Moammar Gadhafi and his family have allegedly fleed to Alegeria after Libyan rebels took siege on the Gadhafi's compound. After having major progress from forcing Gadhafi to exit his compound leaving behind numerous cases of weapons, and taking out several of his men, Tripoli seems to be stable for the moment.

Al-Qaeda Second In-Command killed.
It is believed that the second in command after the death of Bin Laden, has also been killed. An unmanned drone attack in Pakistan reportedly killed the man believed to have taken over as Al Qaeda's leader, along with others. Although some may think that we are starting to really sever the terrorist group, I can't help but think that another will just take his place. Continuing our attacks will only anger them more, but hey, what else can you do? Certainly not just sit back and wait for them to attack us(again).

Again, this is week old news, but I wanted to start with it and I hope that people will like this idea and catch on to it. Not sure if I should make these longer with more news, or keep it short and only include the important things. So help me out here guys.

Any thoughts or feedback would be greatly appreciated.

in so many ways you remind me of an old saying. ill let you decide who you are in this one.
A wise man speaks when he has something to say. A fool speaks because he can. I could hope you have something to say but more often you speak because you can.

Over 60 people (mostly middle-aged women) were killed in a casino fire started by members of the Zetas in Monterrey, Mexico a couple of days ago. 5 suspects have been caught already, i really wish they wouldn't of caught them though. I'd of liked to see the other cartels make them pay for this shit

Also the security at the soccer stadiums in Mexico has been beefed up for the remainder of the season due to a shoot-out that took place outside a stadium during a game last weekend.

So would you like me to cover more topics?

Yeah it'd be nice. I was just putting these out there since they were all over the news in Mexico.

yea like i said in the other post, we just aren't built to handle that type of storm :/ literally everything around here is built to withstand what southern states such as florida would call weak storms. tropical storms are really the highest we can handle without the states taking severe damage. the structures, ground, even the trees are more suited to withstand the heavy amounts of snowfall that occur nearly every year not the gale force winds that palm trees and buildings down are meant to with stand. unfortunate but true :/ it actually sucks you were proven wrong because i'd rather have had that than have even the moderate damage we took. some areas where hit decently hard. mine was lucky and only had some power outages and fallen trees. luckily no deaths around here though. so overall good news :D
