yes evil, the word is used to often in a grand sense simple misconduct to other people and animals is evil. I may sound like a politician but just because one committed evil does not mean we drop ourselves to that level. That is what we are begging to do in this war with what we are, or were, doing to prisoners. Their misconduct must be stopped but we cant lose our values while doing it
I think it's more to show the damage war does to soldiers. He does unspeakable acts but he does them from the stress of war and the belief in his country. Even at the end when he returns and says his flag is gathering dust but it's a flag that he loves. He was pushed past the breaking point and suffered for the country that he loves. It's to highlight that war is a horrible thing that destroys people. It shows that the soldiers on both side are required, or certainly feel they're required, to do things they would never normally do for their patriotism. The "damage" war does to people is highly over-publicized and hollywood-ized. (i know i just made up words but i hope you know what I meant.) Yes some people do suffer from mental problems from war. My father served in Panama, the First Gulf War, and the second Gulf War. He also went back to iraq as a civilian later to do some more fighting. I will go ahead and tell you he has killed people. He told me he thinks about it every day almost because he knows that was someone's child, someones brother, someones friend. But he also remembers that that person was trying to kill him and his friends. Its not like war is just this dehabilitaing(I may have made up another word) thing that fucks you up for life.
One more thing, never judge a person in the military or a cop for wrongdoings based on information in hindsight. Always judge on what information that they had at the time.

Oh i know what you mean exactly. But my point was that people like your father, and the people he fought, have done things that they wouldn't do because of war. Some people aren't as affected by this as others are. Some people though destroyed by the experience

Just because the best schools here are for more wealthy people doesn't mean less fortunate people go there. The U.S. still has good colleges I know this as a college student. I know how to use grammar and all of this. (Don't correct me right now I have been drinking right now and am buzzed so don't take this into account. I will not post that comment again however because I did it on purpose and did it to make a point and now it's over.

Actually many Americans know the rest of the world hate us we don't say they don't. But The one thing I have to say is that someone has to be the person at top keeping everything in control. for a long time that was England. Personally, I don't believe America was even attacked on 911, but that's entirely other issue. North Korea genuinely are testing nuclear weapons, and they do identify America as their greatest "threat."

honestly America gets a really bad rep allota the conflicts we are in were really started by the French and British they destabilized most of the world with their colony building and America being the dumb asses we are tried to go in and fix in a decade what i took those countries a century to fuck up
That may be true about many past conflicts, but recently it has been ALL us. Even against opposition from other countries, we have pressed on. But let's not turn this into a war/anti-war discussion. I think we can all agree that America's military spending is sky-high. Whether or not that is a good thing remains to be seen : ). That is all : ).

I'm almost certain you wouldn't win any war. At least by yourself. China could take just about anyone they wanted only because of the amount of people they have

im not saying it wont but if a country like the U.S. or Russia china or India wanted to invade it they could. Not saying it wouldn't be hard but they could just because of the amount of people and resources. If it was just England vs. anyone of those countries by it self i wouldn't see much of a chance for you. But hey we don't have to worry bout all that so it's cool
I'm not saying that we would win, but the issue is, is that we're an island, so if someone did try and invade us, you could only really attack via boats or air, which could make things a bit more interesting.. Unless there were missiles... We're screwed if there were missiles.. But yeah, because we're an island it's be kind of difficult. Plus, we have the Scot's on our side. Fuck your missiles, planes and boats, we have pissed Scot men in skirts :D
the biggest problem with a modern non-nuclear war with Briton would be....supplies. the island nations does not have enough natural supplies to feed a war machine. thats why the US was so vital to Briton during WWII. It does not matter how good your guns are without bullets. it does not matter how good your planes are without gas. A retired 2 star marine core general one told me at my military college, amateurs plan strategy, professionals plan logistics. i just wonder how much national reserves the Brits have for war. how long could they hold out? the answer...until supplies ran out. read your histoy, even the most bad ass of forts have been over taken, not always by guns but by blockade.
I know that, that's why I put that I never said we would win, I just mentioned problems that other places may have. I know from my history, which I studied, that we'd be screwed if it came to a siege situation, which is the main disadvantage to being a island nation. I'm not even getting started on the WWII subject XD
that being said as far as i know any country that ever fucks with Brition will have the might of the US armed forces fucking them UP with in the hour. Briton as far as i am concerned is a cousin of the US. As such you are family. Any one who fucks with our older cousin is going to have to deal with US, a much younger but bigger cousin. Some of the best people i have ever met were the royal marines who i served with. only other group i have met that can hold their own when it comes to a drinking contest with a marine.
Oh that'll be the Scottish and Irish arm of the British, as far as I'm concerned as English, I'm a lightweight haha. All jokes aside, as an ex- cadet, some of the best people I've met have been armed forces personnel, they're actually genuine people.

This is just awesome. and Iraq is 37? Umm.. we beat them in like 2 weeks. Thats messed up
US took about everthing in the main invasion and we got to Bagdad in like 10 days
