There were no tickets to his funeral
You're a 19 year old kid. You're critically wounded and dying in the jungle in the Ia Drang Valley , 11-14-1965, LZ X-ray , Vietnam . Your infantry unit is outnumbered 8 - 1 and the enemy fire is so intense, from 100 or 200 yards away, that your own Infantry Commander has ordered the MediVac helicopters to stop coming in.
You're lying there, listening to the enemy machine guns and you know you're not getting out.
Your family is 1/2 way around the world, 12,000 miles away and you'll never see them again.
As the world starts to fade in and out, you know this is the day.
Then - over the machine gun noise - you faintly hear that sound of a helicopter..!!
You look up to see an un-armed Huey!! But... it doesn't seem real because no Medi-Vac markings are on it.
Ed Freeman is coming for you..!!
He's not Medi-Vac so it's not his job, but he's flying his Huey down into the machine gun fire anyway. Even after the Medi-Vacs were ordered not to come.
He's coming anyway. And he drops it in and sits there in the machine gun fire, as they load 2 or 3 of you on board.
Then he flies you up and out through the gunfire to the Doctors and Nurses.
And, he kept coming back..!! 13 more times..!!
He took about 30 of you and your buddies out who would never have gotten out.
Medal of Honor Recipient, Ed Freeman, died last Wednesday at the age of 80, in Boise , ID
May God Rest His Soul.
I bet you didn't hear about this hero's passing...we had 24/7 coverage of Michael Jackson instead.
Medal of Honor Winner
Ed Freeman!
Shame on the American Media..!!

That's so bullshit. All people in America care about is some transvestite pop-singer who died of drug overdose. Whoopty-fucking doo. I don't really give a shit if he was a legend in his time, fuck him. He raped little kids and had a sex change. I've never heard of this guy Ed Freeman until now, and already I give him 1,000,000,000 times more respect than I would ever give to Micheal Jackson. People are always willing to talk about the bad news because they know that everybody will agree with them. People never talk about good news because they're afraid of getting into an argument with someone over a difference of opinion. Citizens of America have become so concerned about their own personal wealth and reputation that they forgot about the people who actually make a difference. +3 in honor of Mr. Freeman. R.I.P.
Just so you know not all Americans love Michael Jackson. I hated him, his music wasn't even good don't think all of America is in love with Michael Jackson just becuse of the midia. It wasn't a sex change it was a color change he was a black man then he got a ton of sergery and became a scarey looking white man. He was a child molesting freak. There was a joke at my old school it was. Michael Jackson looking for a house near here quick hid the boys! Where's the all girl school sighn! Well, find it hurry!
Kradon, first of all he didn't rape little kids, and second of all Jane Austen is one of the greatest writers in history (who, incidentally, had a sex change) and Michael Jackson was really very good. But overall I agree. It's been blown up for like months now.
if you look into it before the parents of the raped children asked him to babysit their kids people already knew he was messed up. yet the parents still sent the kids to stay the night at his house. Then when they went to court they didn't want him in jail. They just wanted his money. So instead of pressing charges on rape they settled out of court for nothing but an ass load of money. So instead of locking up the so called rapist, they let go. I don't know if he did or not but things look a bit strange.
Dammit! MJ even took over this post.
My father flew hueys in vietnam, hiss call sighn was "Woodstock". the stories he tell about the amout of abuse these birds would take is the stuff of legend. dad once said he never had to buy a drink in the officers club. the ground troops would buy all the drinks he wanted. the troops wanted the chopper pilots happy. they never knew when a huey pilot was going to save their life. dad is the reason i joined the Marines. God bless chopper pilots, they are true angels of mercy.
Wasn't he one of the pilots portrayed in "We Were Soldiers"?
Do not compare MJ to Rhianna. This is the man who wrote Thriller, Beat It, Smooth Criminal and other hits. His music will be remembered for years to come (look how popular it still is) in 20 years, I'll be amazed if anyone remembers who Rhianna is.
I agree 100% F Michal Jackson BILLY MAYS and this guy FTW
I appreciate this post! This is why we need to focus more on what Memorial Day really means, and not what's going to be on sale.
Quick point of order; you don't win a Medal of Honor. You receive one. He was a Medal of Honor recipient, not winner. It's not a contest, it's an honor.

Well, that's the media for you. They're all about stories that sell. Which is why no one ever really learns anything watching the news anymore.
Which brings up an even larger problem here. All of this coverage of any death, be it MJ's or our hero Mr. Freeman's, does not deserve 24/7 coverage. Because there are more important things, that have a more important impact on our lives that the media neglects. In fact, I didn't even find out about MJ's death because of TV, I found out at work, less than an hour later after his death because one of my co-workers had the internet on her blackberry. Then, after the world already knows, the media still feels like it has to wallow in Micheal's death story weeks afterward. This is why, for example, so few people understand what was in the heath care bill. The media does an awful job covering important info, and it's not just the pundits on Fox news, (who constantly lie and manipulate "fact" in order to make the news suit a republican agenda) networks like CNN and NBC aren't much better... Thankfully, this is where the internet comes in.

you do realize that if it wasn't for the middle east and africa, the European nations would never have existed? the world wouldn't go to shit if you never came to be.
what a stupid argument. are you truly trying to take credit for something our, not your, ancestors did over 200 years ago?
Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future.
John F. Kennedy
try not to live in the past.

If America never existed you'd all be speaking German
Most of the grunt work? In Europe but so many people forget that the US had to fight on two fronts. also for the record russia didn't do the most grunt work as much as they had solders killed. russia was well known for its tactic of sending wave after wave of solders into the fight. if you didn't charge, you were shot on the spot. if you did charge you were shot by the germans. by far the biggest contribution the US had to the European theater was logistic support, ie, ammo, gas, part, materials, and man power. england could of held out the germans as long as they didn't run out of supplies, coming from the US. Even Monty is South Africa started to kick ass, after the US joined forces. D day, how many beaches were there? 5 i think and of the 5, 3 were taken by US forces. There is no logical way to wonder what might of happened. all we know and can agree on is that without US help during WWII the allies would of been in a hurt locker.
Thank you Jonecash im tired of the Eruopeans (not all of them just the stuck up ones) who think they know everything in the world. Oh and CrazyJay believe me i know my history im a History major.
And i love how some america-bashing people just have to comment this kinda crap on a post about a great american war hero's death, have some F'n respect.

it is not your job to worry about the US. we are doing fine. not perfect, we have been better, but we are doing just fine. its not like the US is Greece. also i fail to understand how the US problems are any of your business, unless you are just a busy body who likes to stick their nose in other business. so far crazyjay your history facts have been lacking. unless you don't care about the facts and are just a European fan boy who just wants to say how cool you are. if you can crazy stick to the facts, and people will listen to your point.
