The truest friends in the world
So I was thinking today about loyalty and what it means. And while I was doing this I happened to stubble upon a quote “A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself.” This got me thinking about my own dog and the truth behind this quote. A dog is the only thing that loves you for you. It never is angry at you for long. It trusts you with its life and would gladly give up it's own for your safety. To me these animals, which are so kind to us and ask nothing in return, are the worlds last true example of unconditional love and loyalty. So here it is the worlds truest friends.

Not quite true. I've met people who fit that description. And I like to think I'm one of them, though I guess I'd have to let the people around me be the judge of that.
Really, caring for other people like that is the only way to be happy. I've noticed that those who put themselves first are never, ever satisfied with their lives, and it makes sense when you think about it. It's kind of like living your life on blood money. You can't live selfishly like that without either (a) being forever alone, or (b) stepping on others to get what you want. Usually both. When a person like this dies, he dies full of regrets, whether he'll admit to them or not.
On the flipside, someone who lives for others is always happy as long as he can make the people around him happy. He gives love and receives love in return. He's the guy everyone knows they can trust, the guy who you know has got your back. And everyone's got his in return. This is the guy who everyone goes out of their way to help, because he's done so much for them already. This is the guy who everyone adores and cares about. This is the guy who lives and dies without a single regret or a scrap of guilt. And through all that, he's humble, and never lets it go to his head.
24paperwings, judging from some of your posts, you seem like that kind of guy yourself (you are a guy, right?). Do yourself a favor and stay that way.

thank you for the video I'll try and watch it to night. Also thank you for saying that about me I'd like to think I am extremely loyal but from what I've seen so for it is a very rare trait these days. I just thought that I would share my thoughts on this. Also yes I am a guy lol
Maybe it's not so rare as you think; it seems to me that you just have to know where to look. Mainly, I've noticed that just being that kind of proactively selfless person tends to result in having similar friends. Even better, sometimes you're lucky enough that your kindness changes someone for the better, and you unintentionally create good company where there was none before.

I have 2 dogs and a cat and frankly I can't wait for the cat to die but I will cry like a little bitch when either of the dogs die
I like cats as well just not as much as dogs. Don't be mean to the cat because it does love you. just maybe not as much as the dogs. Cats are just more independent thats how they survived

I used to have a dog before them called Trudie, I loved that dog so much, I'd had her since I was 5 years old, and she was there not long after my parents divorced. She was there when my dad had to go away on business to cheer me up, she used to lie on the floor and let me use her as a cushion and she always knew how to cheer me up if I'd had a bad day, mainly by chasing her tail until she managed to corner it against a wall and then looking at me like she was so proud of herself :). I still miss her as much as I did when she died on 14th March 2005, 6 years ago... She really was my best friend :'(

I wish dogs could live as long as humans. Then we would never have to lose them and get new dogs. I loved my first dog and our current one. they both are amazing and were the kindest animals I've ever known. I hope there is a heaven if not for our sake but then for theirs.
Me too. But at the same time, if they lived as long as us, we may not appreciate them as much and treat them the same way. And yeah, I feel the same, its not fair the way she went, but at the same time, it was quick and she didn't suffer and for that I'm grateful.
My dog, Trudie, she died when I was 12. It was kind of weird, because she never used to chase cats, but on the day she died, she decided she wanted to chase a cat on the other side of the road, and someone had left the gate open, and she ran out, and got hit by a car which was speeding, which I guess was good because she died instantly, but still.
I hate stupid people who hit animals. Stupid world being so mean to the nice dogs. I hate it when this kind of thing happens. May she rest in piece and eat all the bacon she can in heaven.

Not a chance I like cats but when shit goes down which one is running in to defend you? Just watch this video and you'll get what I mean.
Cat's are the most ungrateful fuckers you will ever have in your house. Dogs understand their place. You feed them, play with them, see to all of their needs and they love you unconditionally. You do that with cats, half the time they don't even pretend to like you.
Not to mention, when was the last time you heard of a rescue cat, or a police Cat? You haven't, dogs own that.

Depends, indoor cats are just like you described, except fatter, but outdoor cats are waaay better. Probably because they understand how good they have it. My outdoor cat is more like a dog than my Black Lab. My cat comes when I call her, the lab will usually just sit there and wag his tail. And, unlike the lab, the cat doesn't like to roll in her own shit.
Haha so true. I like them the same i have a pitbull and she pisses me off sometimes because she has way too much energy. Haven't had a cat like in 10 years but they're cool
