The world's shortest escalator in the Kawasaki More's department store in Japan. It has even been certified by the Guinness Book of Records in 1989 as having the shortest vertical height of 834mm.

It's like they were trying to build a larger escalator, but halfway through they got tired and said "Fuck it, let's just put in some stairs".
