The first banner ad ever

Have you ever wondered how the first banner ad looked like?

HotWired was the first web site to sell banner ads in large quantities to a wide range of major corporate advertisers. The first web banner sold by HotWired was paid for by AT&T, and was put online on October 25, 1994.

This is how it looked like:

UPDATE: Apparently adblock blocks the first banner ad ever as well. You will need to disable adblock for a moment to see this ad.

AT&T was one of a number of firsts. Volvo, MCI and Club Med, all Euro RSCG clients were three of the first.
