The Methuselah tree is indeed the world's oldest living organism. The one in Sweden is a part of a clonal colony that dates back some 9500 years, but the tree itself is not that old. A clonal colony results when a plant or fungus reproduces asexually and the resultant offspring are all genetically identical to the original. The original member of that colony was indeed germinated that long ago, but has since died out, and none of its currently living descendants pre-date the Methuselah tree.
