The Musical Talent of Sharenator

Sharenator.com > The Musical Talent of Sharenator
I am a huge music person and big supporter of people learning musical instruments. I think it's a great way express yourself. It can show your happiness or anger. For those who don't play because they don't think they will be good enough, you are good enough. If you have the true desire to play, you will be able to play. I am not going to lie to you, though. It is hard and frustrating at times but when you play something that makes you smile, the feeling is so unbelievable. And don't be afraid if how you want to play is not normal to others play. The beautiful thing about musical instruments is that there are no rules. There is music theory, theory not law. Here is a great example. This man, Paul Gilbert plays his guitar how what he wants. If he wants to shred and only use three strings he does.

If he wants to cover cheesy, old songs by pop artist, he does. He doesn't care because it's what he wants to do.

So, if you would, share what instrument you play or, if you don't play an instrument, what instrument you would like to play. If you have videos of you playing, please post them. I would love to see them! :)

Also I would be hypocrite if I didn't post something about what I play! :)

I can read music, but I'm not the best at it and i prefer not to have it.

Often i will put it there for reference, if I forget a part, but I don't always follow it (bad idea)

Alot of musicians can't and that's ok. The important thing is that you are playing.

This is me, I recorded this for my son.

This is my wife, I added the music in, synced it, cleaned it up a bit, and the background vocals are me.

I don't claim to be a rockstar, but it shouldn't make your ears bleed. :)

Thank you for saying so, I don't think you'll see anymore of my wife on here, lol. Kinda had to be sneaky just to get that one lol. She was walking by the computer and I handed her the mic and said here, sing this lol. Then she went to work and I put it all together lol.
She's the real singing talent though, not I lol. Not that it ever stops me, I love to sing!

Nice! Thank you for posting. Both of you have great voices. I really like your voice. It is very unique. With the right background music it would be so badass.

I don't think I'm that great, I could be if I had the time or willpower to practice, but Skyrim is kinda making everything take a back seat lately lol.

I play guitar quite well, but any recording I do is sub-par to what I want. When I get a good one, you'll be seeing it.

Yeah. Thats how feel when I record. I think its the nervousness of knowing if you mess up, you have to start over.

Well I've gotten past that kind of nervousness, but it just seems like everything sounds better as you're playing rather than listening.

That's awesome! I can't fathom how percussion music notation is written down. Unless it's percussion as in piano. But still, reading music is a skill that I wish to learn. But getting college mastered is first on my list.

yeh its weird at first but if you can read rhythms you're set percussion isn't hard its just the crazy rhythms at crazy fast or slow tempos which make it seem hard

I played "keyboard" for 4 years (crap version of piano - its classed as its own instrument in the UK).
Now I am learning to play proper piano :)

I also had a go at a harmonica last night and love it :)
I also had a play on my friends accordion, its difficult but I could probably pick it up well.

I can read music but I prefer not to. I usually have it for reference or to learn a song.

I've played the guitar since i was 7 but i'm still not really that brilliant at it. Also, i have to read tab, i've never managed to understand sheet music.

I wish I started at 7. But starting at 17 felt like I truly desired to play.

Same here. Tab is easy

When I look at sheet music

I love to play guitar (3 yrs). Mainly, neoclassical stuff like Jason Becker and Marty Friedman(Cacophony era) . I can read music, but prefer by tabs. Love the fact that you posted Paul Gilbert.

Neoclassical has never been my thing to play but still great to listen to. I think it's awesome that you said neoclassical and didn't mention Yngwie Malmsteen. Sometimes it seems like people think he is the only one who plays neoclassical.

Paul Gilbert is one of my top 3 favorite players.
1)Steve Vai
2)Paul Gilbert
3)Joe Satriani
Posted: 2011-11-27 12:41:49 Report Reply
Malmsteen is probably the biggest name in neoclassical genre, but I don't really enjoy his music.

My top players include:
1. Marty Friedman
2. Jason Becker
3. Syu
4.Gentaro Satomura
5. Dave Mustaine

Oh for sure! Once you get to the point where you can literally pick up the guitar and improvise a good sounding song, you will love playing so much and you never want to stop! Keep at it! :)

I play the saxophone. I especially love playing the tenor in jazz ensembles. I own both a tenor and an alto but I love my tenor because it is a big, black, air-brushed (so it isn't shiny) hunk of awesome.

Something fun I do while at home is go out on my front porch and play the lowest note I can possible do so. Half a mile down the road from my house is a guy who raises mules and they bray like crazy thinking that I am another mule. I would post a pic of my sax, but I am at school and won't be going home for a while.
