How to view 18+ videos on YouTube without having to sign out*
Tired of being told "Sorry, you need to be over 18 to watch this video" when browsing your favourite shows on YouTube? Here's an easy workaround!
* This works with TV shows and other partner videos who can add their own video ratings (often these videos may start with warnings about language etc). Non-partner video normally require you to sign in
Enter your browser's private mode. This may be called "Private Browsing", "InPrivate Browsing" or "Incognito Window".
This usually sandboxes that browsing session from all of your existing cookies etc, and forgets any cookies etc from the private session after you end it.
This time, when YouTube checks your cookies, your browser will say "There's no YouTube cookie here lol" and YouTube will be like "K lol, no ones signed in" and asks you to confirm with a stupid button. You can lie if you can deal with the moral disheartening of lying to a huge faceless company.
And... voila! You can watch your video now!
BROTIP: You can exit private browsing if (like in Safari) it sandboxes all of your tabs. This means things like Facebook will work without having to log in again. The YouTube video will continue to work and play as long as you keep that tab open and don't refresh :)
NOTE: Being able to monetize videos and make videos longer than 15 min takes quite a while - it's not something you ask for (unless you become a partner), they just do it based on a certain popularity (actually quite low) and your account standing (how you have played by the community rules - no offensive videos or copyright infringements across a selection of videos)
