Superman isn't actually human... I'm sure there are some vast differences between his anatomy and a human's anatomy that would keep him from getting something like appendicitis. What if he doesn't have an appendix at all? Or a gall bladder? Or ever a liver for that matter?
I love both characters GREATLY, especially Superman. However just because that is the circumstance it would illogical to assume that I am be biased towards Superman. I'll do my best with the knowledge of the two characters that I have to try to conclude a reasonable decision. Arguably,Goku is the better fighter in terms of his technique and skill. Also similar to the various versions of Goku there are also various versions of Superman, some being much more powerful than the others. From my understanding Goku has been able to accomplish amazing feats especially in his highest, most powerful form. This goes for Superman as well. The most powerful known form of Superman is Superman Prime (Gold Superman) which is the original Superman who ventures off into the sun and traveled to many different places and I quote "fighting battles unimaginable." (please correct me if I'm wrong)
Now his powers are never mentioned ,but he is the head of the Superman Dynasty. I'm my opinion both characters have a chance of beating one another under various circumstances. Both Superman and Goku are "aliens" from different worlds who took shelter on earth. Both have incredible strength, speed, and power. Both have their own set of weaknesses. Both have their own faults. How is it that one can exist while the other cannot?

Yep your absolutely right and Goku is always improving and he's immortal for that matter. It's been years since Goku became SSJ4 and Goku always overkills in training so there really is no telling how much stronger he is. Also Goku can never get trapped by Lex luther he's simply too strong. Thats just like when those gangsters tried to trick Goku out of the dragonballs. He goes after the one headed for the eastern hemisphere first, and by the time he finally gets that one pushed out into space, the other one has already impact the San Andres fault line in San Fran. After the impact, Superman attempts to correct all the things that are happening as a result of the explosion. He reset's the fault line, builds a make-shift damn, so on so forth. However, Lois dies after being crushed by dirt when her car is forced into a large crack in the ground. Superman finally finds her and goes into a rage and flies around the world really fast to turn back time and save her.
The part that I don't understand is why he can fly around the world several times in a matter of seconds when he could only catch one missile that took several minutes to reach it's target? Goku, being a Saiyan, has a very delayed aging process. Over the course of his long and still un-ending life-time, he only gets stronger. By way of what happened throughout the whole series, Goku is at least 300 years old. He's had a LOT of time to train, and his strength, power, and technique come naturally to him. Superman is an over-grown lump of steel that wears red underpants and a silly cape.

I, as an avid DBZ fan, am glad it was cancelled. For a single reason: so it wouldn't grow to be the same thing every battle, every episode, every series. And for that I say that Goku wins hands down. Quite so, redundancy sucks. And for those who would compare it to Hendrix v. Bieber (Hendrix kills), is just like saying Pokemon v. Yu Gi Oh. I'm glad somebody finally isn't defending either side as if their life depended on it. You're right, they are both good guys so the chances of them getting into a fight to the death is slim to none. Goku is not against sparring though, so that particular scenario is still open to both.

The problem with that is the spirit bomb takes WAY too damn long to charge up. In fact, both of his signature attacks take too long. His kamehameha was proven to be too slow in DBGT when he was facing the shadow dragons. As far as the spirit bomb, every time Goku uses it, his friends are around to keep the bad guy busy. Both of those attacks and the time they take would give superman ample time to come after goku and beat the living hell outta him. Whether or not Goku can react in time, defend himself, and provide a decent counter attack depends entirely on whether or not superman decides to take his sweet time. I personally have not watched any superman series except for the movies and they don't really do much justice for how strong superman supposedly is. I've watched each dragonball series at least twice. (DBZ 4 times) It would be virtually impossible for myself to provide an unbiased argument since I know much more about Goku than I do about Superman.

I'm sorry but DBZ is far too epic to be compared to Justin Bieber. I'm rewatching the entire series with a friend whenever we are back on break (we get quite a few episodes in). And I'm currently in college. I'd say that shows at least some staying quality that DBZ has under its belt.
Although Superman is for sure farther reaching, that has no bearing on the perseverance of the DBZ series or meme.

the point is relevant if realize the biggest threat to a superhero is not a villain or another superhero, but to be canceled. Goku could not fight off cancellation. Superman has been doing it for about 80 years now. So Superman wins, Goku could not fight cancellation.

There is no such thing as a fad that has lasted almost 30 years and, despite being cancelled, is still popular.

dragon ball has been around since the 80s, so its not exactly new. superman is more famous of course, but superman has been around since the 40s (but that is irrelevant)... i think the post was based on the fictional character, not it's existence in the real world.

in my younger days i used to read comics. some of my favorite comics were vs comics. Spiderman vs Wolverine (i am sure you get the idea) the one thing i learned from it is this, what happens no matter what you may think is up to the people who draw and wright the stories. you may have an idea what would happen but it is up to the companies to decide what happens.
the comparison of the two is to point out that just as your generation feels about Beiber when compared to Jimmi, its the same way my generation feels about Superman and Goku.

Johne, let me ask you something, and please be honest. It's obvious that everyone hear has watched some form of Superman whether it be a T.V. Show or a movie just because they wanted to. Have you ever watched ANY of the 3 Dragon Ball series? If not, would you ever want to?
yes i did watch series 1 on cartoon network years ago. there is something magical about anime to younger kids. i remember when i was into it. akira, galgo 13, tank police and many more were a staple of my childhood. by the time i had watched dragon ball comics and anime just were not as magical, or more importantly to me original any more. when most of the younger kids on this site were for the first time watching anime, i had seen most of it, enjoyed it, and gotten over it. just as you don't watch the same programing now as when you were 4, my taste have changed. more power to you if you enjoy it. while the show no longer holds any value to me, just as twilight, justin biever, the back street boys, hanson, or boys to men, it does not mean its crap if you enjoy it.

An insult to your intelligence? Both Goku and Superman are imaginary beings. Both are meant as nothing more than entertainment. It doesn't matter which one wins or loses, it is just a matter of opinion. You are probably the only person alive who is actually insulted by a meer question over the internet.
