Should we change sorting algorithm to show posts sorted by date?
I think It's pretty hard to follow new stuff on sharenator right now. Maybe we should change sorting algorithm to show posts sorted by date not by last response? I want to hear what do you think guys :)

Psst.

I think a system of both would be best. We retain the HOT posts bit and maybe expand on it with a new page, but instead of Home showing the most recently commented posts the newest posts to date. In other words, just swap the 'View All New Posts' page with the 'Home' page and rename the first 'View All Hot Posts'
Seems a good idea on the surface. For example, a post I made a few days ago received no attention because it didn't get commented on and just got buried under more popularly discussed posts. But obviously, it does serve the purpose of bumping the best posts back up to the top frequently.
Maybe a most discussed today list or something like that would solve that problem?

Many relevant and interesting discussion threads would be buried in a couple of days. That would totally kill some of the threads.
An option to switch between Recently updated and New posts would be nice.
How about "Topics of the day" feature? Here's my attempt. Nothing fancy, just a quick draft. (click on "View: 1025x710" to zoom):

i think that there should be options for both, but don't we already have that?
we have the new post button and then the homepage shows the newest updated.
so what i am saying, it isn't a lack of the tools, it is a lack of people using them.

What if we have them all? Would it be possible to keep things as they are and add, instead of 'all new posts', view new posts by category. A lot of posts that could be great are being buried by mass posting (of flash games for example). If you're only interested in the pictures category you can look at all the new picture posts.
