Could you give us some examples of games you have enjoyed in the past? That would make it easier for me to understand the sort of games you might like now. Do you have multiplayer-worthy internet?
Your best bet might be to borrow one of those games from a friend, if possible, to see how you like them before buying them.
Personally, I like Reach the best, but BO is WAY better than MW2. Between all the different weapons, vehicles, and armor abilities, you really need to be able to adapt constanly during a game of Reach. Bungie does a better job of cracking down on hackers than any COD game, though Treyarch is trying more than IW ever did.
Here is what it comes down to:
Reach- If you really liked H3, but not H2 or H1, don't get it. If you liked H2 and H1 as well as H3, then you will probably like Reach.
Black Ops- If you liked COD4, but didn't like the "cheap" things in MW2 like the commando perk or the one man army/noob tube combo. then you will love BO.
PS- the communities for both games are populated with idiots, so unless you like to "lone wolf" it or have friends who play regularly. You may want to save your $60 for something else entirely.
Here's the thing. To me, they're both poorly coded, overrated games. Crucify me all you want, but you know deep inside that it's true. I have to much of an attention span to spend it mindlessly shooting a 12 year old over an online video game.
The hitboxes suck for both. The stories lack general originality in both. The fanbase is vastly retarded for lack of a better word for both.
Play something with story. Play something with more interaction than just pulling a trigger. LEARN TO HAVE TASTE
Maybe it's just me bantering, but whatever. It's just my opinion.
I love Bethesda games, and the Knights of the Old Republic series. Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed, Fable, Freelancer, etc etc. Basically, RPG's with a great story line to draw you into the game.
No i agree with you, i bought black ops just to check out the COD franchise, never again! its a bland story that is like a cheesy action film, getting into a full game without it disconecting halfway through its annoying and the community just plain sucks (most of it anyways)
Then the battle begins.
But honestly I think they are both overrated. I have Black Ops and I like it, but it isn't a revolutionary game by any means. And although I haven't played Halo Reach, my friends who have tell me they hate the multilayer because it takes so long to kill someone.
I think the real competition for gaming comes from Goldeneye for N64. One of the best multiplayer shooters of all time.
Ah, Goldeneye. The first shooter I ever learned how to play and I still love to go back to it every now and then when I've got a few friends over. Don't suppose you've managed to play the remake on the wii yet?
Well, I haven't had the chance to play Reach yet, but I've been able to play black ops. It's about as good as any other Call of Duty titles for the 360. (Out of them, I still prefer Cod 4, even over modern warfare 2.) Unfortunately, the mindless fanboys are going to buy the new Call of Duty anyways, so if you're into online play, you'll have to hop on the bandwagon.
Reach graphics are greatly improved, weapons feel like they handle better, story is so so, forge is a bit more complicated but has loads more to play around with. Black ops to me are so so in graphics, weapons feel like actual weapons, story is not so good to me, so I would say halo reach after I played both games.
Depends on what you like. I would choose Black Ops because there so much customization to it. You can change things a lot more to where you can be using what you need and like to how you play. Reach there is customization on how you can be in the game. Like you can fly high and snipe or be invisible and strike without detection. I like Black Ops more but that's me.
Reach is alright but I'm a PS3 guy... Black Ops is really good, but not challenging enough, it's no longer rewarding to unlock cool camos and attachments. Oh Well, both are good games! Oh, and try Medal of Honor, fucking love that game!
