Just looking for epic pics of bands like Green Day, Rise against, Bad Religion. Also suggest other awesome bands like these guys and maybe some of your own if you have a band. Tacolad gets 50% of the points
Great thanks man, this will probably top off my ipod/phone. Are these some of the bigger bands, or maybe a little less known? Not much for mainstream cults, but these guys rock. Thanks again.
Four Year Strong are pretty big now following the release of 'enemy of the world' and Me vs. Hero are gaining popularity. I've been to a couple of their gigs and they're mental, so much fun :3
this shits gay, these guys probly spend more time straightening their hair in the morning than anything else. sorry. pop-punk is the gay little brother of punk rock.
I'm sorry but Euro-Punk and fashion punk is definitely not what I mean. I don't necessarily say that this is all they're about, but I'm more for southern california punk, and punk where they truly take a stand
lol are you kidding? u think the sex pistols dont take a stand? the shit they wore was ultimately saying "fuck you" to fashion. it wasnt untill after they were big that people started wearing shit like that for some kind of fashion, they cant help that. lol im honestly in shock that u said that the sex pistols didnt take a stand. have u ever heard "god save the queen"? one of there better known songs. look up the lyrics. lol wow.
first off that is taking a stand. did you not read my comment? fashion is one of the many things they brought to attention that was considered taboo before. they focused mainly on how fucked up the government was, u would know this if u knew absolutely anything about the sex pistols. like i said, "god save the queen" look up the lyrics and tell me they did not "take a stand". open your eyes. the lead singer of green day wears mascara for fucks sake. also u must not be from the states. because in the states green day is generic, over marketed punk. and everyone who is remotely familiar with "punk rock" knows that anythink after dookie is over-edited, clean-cut, media sellout punk.
Fucking obviously sellout shit after Dookie. Yeah he wears mascara. He doesn't emphasize it. If you've ever beefed up on Green Day anything like Sex Pistols, then you'd realize the old stuff is a real stand, like human treatment and politics. FASHION?! Seriously. If it was significant, you'd have opened with the government. How does what you wear REALLY matter? Yeah, bands all dress well. They wish to look nice. It is NOT, however, their form of taking a stand. Whatever, debating reason only works with the reasonable.
anything can be taking a stand. and its not fashion as in whats in your latest journeys magazine, it goes deeper than that. as in the ideal person, saying how the media has fucked up our heads into being so godamn judgemental that we wont give someone the time of day unless they look what is considered to be acceptable. your moving away from the original point. u said the sex pistols wore their clothes just for a trend. thats bullshit. u also said that the sex pistols did not "take a stand". u obviosely still have not looked up ANY of their song lyrics. and if u agree that their shit was sold out after dookie then why do u have the american idiot grenade as your avatar? seems like you are the one who does not practice what they preach. lol
The American Idiot? That's because I get that image the most for searching Green Day. I stand in the same view. Obviously beating it into your doesn't do anything, and I have no patience. Goodbye.
I have a whole album on my Facebook but this was from Bad Religion at FunFunFunFest. I got front as well. The whole concert was a mosh, so I almost lost half my internal organs pressed against the barrier fence breathing in all the pot in the air. Best time I've ever had.
Yeah I had that with Rise Against, got to the very front but got crushed against the barrier, had bruised ribs for ages and I still got problems with my back from time to time.
alright, hopefully i can do my best to save this post. u kids are falling victim to this over-marketed deluted prissy punk bullshit. i am going to post some classic punk rock that hopefully hits home with one of you lost souls.
the fucking kings of american punk rock, the ramones:
no specific order. i know i left out so many, i was just trying to think of the greats off the top of my head. listen to this and stop listening to lame shit. the end.
dude im trying to save you. i "preaching" to stop listening to lame media-punk. to each their own i suppose. but damn i hate to see all these posts praising these prissy pop-punk bands.
Hey, I left an open ended question. Get pissed at the ones answering for their responses. Their music is open to interpretation and context. However, openly stating you're taking a stand for fashion? Very, very prissy. Ever seen Housewives of whatever damned state? Yeah, they argue about fashion regularly.
its not FOR fasion. wtf? thats retarted. its taking a stand AGAINST fasion. and your so caught up on your enterpretation of what they are against. its not like "whats hot this season" fasion. its deeper than that. its a form of expression. thats only one of the things that the sex pistols touched on. mainly they called out government corruption. they wore watever the fuck they felt like, they didnt care if it was cool. THEN is when people tried to dress like them trying to rape their image, losing the entire goal. look up the lyrics for "punk is dead" by crass. its so fucking true.
Yes that's right, punk is dead,
It's just another cheap product for the consumers head.
Bubblegum rock on plastic transistors,
Schoolboy sedition backed by big time promoters.
CBS promote the Clash,
But it ain't for revolution, it's just for cash.
Punk became a fashion just like hippy used to be
And it ain't got a thing to do with you or me.
Movements are systems and systems kill.
Movements are expressions of the public will.
Punk became a movement cos we all felt lost,
But the leaders sold out and now we all pay the cost.
Punk narcissism was social napalm,
Steve Jones started doing real harm.
Preaching revolution, anarchy and change
As he sucked from the system that had given him his name.
Well I'm tired of staring through shit stained glass,
Tired of staring up a superstars arse,
I've got an arse and crap and a name,
I'm just waiting for my fifteen minutes fame.
Steve Jones you're napalm,
If you're so pretty (vacant) why do you swarm?
Patti Smith you're napalm,
You write with your hand but it's Rimbaud's arm.
And me, yes I, do I want to burn?
Is there something I can learn?
Do I need a business man to promote my angle?
Can I resist the carrots that fame and fortune dangle?
I see the velvet zippies in their bondage gear,
The social elite with safety-pins in their ear,
I watch and understand that it don't mean a thing,
The scorpions might attack, but the systems stole the sting.
PUNK IS DEAD. PUNK IS DEAD. PUNK IS DEAD.
PUNK IS DEAD. PUNK IS DEAD. PUNK IS DEAD.
PUNK IS DEAD. PUNK IS DEAD. PUNK IS DEA
whoever downrated u can go fucking die. rancid, the ramones, iggy pop. these kids are fucked, growing up thinking punk is about straightening your hair and screaming like little girls.
Yes. After posting this a very good like-minded friend of mine got me obsessed with bad religion while he showed many the black flag, the casualties, pennywise, and tons more
fuck ya dude, before i saw this comment i was starting to think that the generations coming up were totally fucked in their idea of what "punk rock" is. dont lose that mindset.
And many reasonable people make idiots roll in their grave because the idiots think fashion murders innocents. Again, Avenged takes a stand. They make enjoyable music to go with it. Get the hell off.
take a stand? avenged sevenfold "takes a stand" no more then the jonas brothers, wtf is your deffinition of "taking a stand"? its mainstreme over-marketed metalcore. total bro-metal.
Going to name a few of the bands I really like, with a song you should listen to.
A Wilhelm Scream (-5 to 9), Senses Fail (Rum is for drinking, not for burning), Yellowcard (Rough Landing Holly), Your Demise (Burnt Tongues),
Silverstein (Smile in your Sleep), The Flatliners (Fred's got Slacks, Carry The Banner), No Trigger (Owner Operator), Comeback Kid (False Idols Fall), The Loved Ones (100k), Minor Threat (I don't wanna hear it), Mute (Fading Out), Much The Same (Stitches), The Ghost Of A Thousand (Black Art Number One)
They vary from pop-punk to hardcore punk, so it's not that if you don't like one of them, you don't like all of them.
Sorry, but Green Day is not punk for me. No, not in a million years.
Bad Religion was neo-punk as was Rise Against, but true punk is always the stars: Bad Brains, Ramones, Misfits(Danzig era :3, Crass.

That's what I put rock for. Some people get offended at having bands like Bad Religion called non-punk. Honestly, I don't like punk. The whole idea was that the music sucked, but it was a way to hang out and go deaf. Punk rock was when it became good music. Real punk is awesome at the right time, but not always.
