I mean I tend to follow some of these, even before I read them.... I don't spend my money, I stay with people who are REALLY my friends... I 'try' to stay with only what I need...
Value is in the eye of the person with the money. Actually if you go by the lessons he taught in that post, then buying a castle is the right thing to do if you want to do it.
1. Because you can tell people YOU LIVE IN A FUCKING CASTLE
2. The aesthetics achieved through slave labour and incredibly hard work without much care for the wellbeing of the workers, while ethically frowned upon today, were incredible. Most castles look beautiful.
3. Re-enactments of regal incidents.
4. A moat.
5. A drawbridge.
6. Battlements.
^If these things don't get you in the mood to own a castle, then I guess you're just not someone who'd buy a castle :/
