the exact reason i dont go to parks now......our park now has this tarp stuff tht feels like carpet ontop of concrete
The wood chips are called Playground bark and they do not splinter or cut you. They are like rubber mulch.
As for the rubber padding, it is 4 inches thick and like a wrestling mat.
Unless you grew up in the 80's, you don't shit about how dangerous parks were. We had slides that got over 9000 degrees on hot days, bees living in the 200 degree sand that really was like being on lava, and wooden bridges that did splinter/pinch the shit out of your hands and feet.
