Navy SEALs are trained to work in more environments and terrains than any other type of solider in the United States. They are trained to work on Land, on the Sea, and in the Air.
Navy SEAL sharpshooters have almost 100% accuracy. They are trained to hit a target within an inch from 100 or more yards away!
The majority of Navy SEALs will train upwards of 52 weeks before becoming an official Navy SEAL! This makes the Navy SEALs the most trained soldiers in the United States military.
There are no female Navy SEALs and has never been a single female Navy SEAL in the history of the Navy SEALs.
As of 2009 there have been less than 11,000 individuals who have gained the title of Navy SEAL! These numbers make the Navy SEALs even more elite!

Seals have been sent to Bosnia to capture a war criminal alive. They found he was working out of a hospital. So they stole a wheel chair, knocked out the target and put him on the wheel chair, put a blanket over him and put him in back of a truck before driving him out of the country.
The Seals have the highest number of enemy kills and captures in Afghanistan than any other unit in operation. the stats arnt in yet for Iraq
A Taliban commander was know for torturing innocent Afghans. He was working with bin laden and had a helmet he would wear. He got it from a dead Russian special forces member he killed when they invaded. After a SEAL team was covertly placed in Afghanistan (before the initial invasion) one navy seal came back from a mission wearing this helmet. The Taliban who had once owned it, was never seen again
seal team 6 was created to test American military security. So the seals would actually attack (without using lethal force) American military facilities. With out any gov given weapons, intel or money, they gained access to American nuclear compartments on submarines, weapons and demo in top secured warehouses and even got into air force one, where they took hostages.
In Vietnam a Navy Seal had 32 hand-to-hand kills in 48 hours. 32!
A Seal fighting in Iraq was shot in the eye(exiting the side of his head) then killed 3 terrorists, finished the mission and walked 2 miles to the extraction point.

s.a.s is british. thats why you never hear anything about them. theyre just people with outstanding skill from the royal air force. and just last year. it was on the front page of most news papers. it said that s.a.s are responsible for atleast 50 taliban leaders being killed.theyve probably doubled that by now.

I have served with many a royal marine. they are good. Then again so are the US marines. To say one is better than the other shows you have never served. I have seen many a royal marine that could kick a US marines ass, and i have seen many a royal marine who would get their ass kicked by a US marine. To say one is better than the other is to insult both. Both are Marines, and we all know the best in the world are Marines!
i am a retired USMC pilot. trust me when i say even though you civilians are not in the field with us, you are in our hearts and minds. civilians are apart of the military in the fact they are the one's who make our guns, make our boats, planes, ammo, food, ect... in the US there can be no military without civilian help. so it does not bother me when some one says "us" that was not in the military. at the very least this guys taxes payed for me to train and everything i needed to fight for the USA. Go USA, go world!

Back to putting words in my mouth? OK, even though i posted that 5 months ago. Just to educate you on something - a 'big brother' is a brother who is older than you, not bigger than you. It's also known that younger brothers tend to learn from their older, or big, brothers. There is no generalisation for the entire population as we are referring to the country and it's history.

it is true...the SEALS are a direct response to the SAS. im american all the way...but the SAS...cmon, they are fuckin badass. i have the SAS survial guide and its pretty tits.

For those arguing about whether the SAS or American SF are better they clearly don't mind working with eachother: pretty interesting and rare footage of them in action together

Can't really compare the SEALS and the SAS. They do different things these days, although the SEALS were based on the SAS originally. I mean one on one the SAS are better trained and stronger as individuals. But as a force they can't really be compared.
But anyway, on topic the SEALS are indeed badasses. Whether they are more or less badass than the SAS isn't really the point.

Can I just say wow to all the trashing of the branches, what does it matter who is better if we are all on the same side? SEALS are one of the most elite units in the world, so are SAS and Specnaz I admire anyone who manages to make it in any of those and those are just the ones I can think of off hand, this was a great post complimenting the SEALS +3

How many of those nations do you think would go to war with the U.S.? Really just because there still in the commonwealth or w/e of Britain doesn't mean they will go to war whenever they ask. Why go back to the war of 1812? What does that have to do with now? We won the Revolutionary war and they came and were gonna win in 1812 if we wouldnt of got a treaty. So why does that matter?

love it when a POGUE is gonna sit there and say that we'd get our asses kicked... seeing as how you are female, i can forgive the fact that you couldn't be Combat Arms... i have worked with seals, sas, and SF overseas, and of the 3, i was most impressed with SF. not saying seals and sas can't hold their own, but SF is a superior force, not bashing seals or sas, or any operators. those men have my highest respect, and i would gladly work with any of them again in Afghanistan next year... as to the original post saying seals train harder than any other us soldiers, firstly, SF has a 2year "Q" course... and SEAL team 6 was in fact created as the Counter-Terror team, not the attack and test american posts... an element made up of ST6 members was formed and was called OP-06D, more commonly called Red Cell. they were an independent command... for the reference on the info i have on ST6, go pick up a book called Rogue Warrior, by Richard Marcinko. or you can look him up online im sure... and while we're mentioning badasses, how come nobody mentioned the German GSG-9 guys?
SAS only work with Delta Force which is secret or not as popular or know the the Americans the Navy Seals are weaker than Delta Force so the SAS work with Delta Force not Navey Seals Dumb Asses if your going to praise your best army guys it would be Delta Force. Your American you should know that as you all know everything like you knew that Navy seals are harder than everyone which is wrong as SAS and Delta force share tatics etc :D

am i alone when i say that show can piss me off. i enjoy watching it like i enjoy watching a car accident. i just wish they would compare apples to apples and stop changing the test. what ever test you have for one weapon, do the exact same test on the other one. its like these guys have never heard of the scientific method of testing.

Okay Im not one for saying this branch is better so that's not what Im saying here. Navy SEALS are trained for 54 months but the USAF Pararescueman are trained fore more than a year. They are trained to fight quickly and efentially. Scuba trained, Parachute (go figure). Have the same medical training as a EMT. Trained on any vehicle and any terrain. Making them the most trained.

Actually I think the marine corps is better. And the Spetsnaz is better than both of them.
