Mind Blown! I Simply Do Not Understand How This Works!

If anyone has any kind of realistic explanation for this, please leave a comment, if anyone has any kind of funny explanation then also leave a comment.
Personally, no idea.

Magnets, it must be magnets because I dont want another thing on earth that cant be explained XD
everything that cant be explained has two possible answers: magnets or 42

Not to diminish how awesome this is, but did the guy asking questions sound like Jeff Goldblum to anyone else?

Not until you pointed it out!

Also... I clicked on this post because of the thumbnail pic's awesome rocking tits. Shame on you for false advertising Mr. TryThat

"The, um, quantum physics, um levitate, um..."

Sorry :( Next time I will include more sets of awesome rocking tits just for you.

I musty admit it was the tits that did it for me too!

its an excessively chilled superconductor which at extreme low temperature exhibits a kind of locking situation as he explain, where its charge evenly distributes on the surface and holds itself in place inside the electrical field of the magnets. its a bit vague of an explanation but our physics lecturer showed us an example of that by levitating a metal cube over a chilled superconductor

I was going to say something similar but you said it as best I could.

i learnd this from naked science
    - hightec October 18, 2011, 6:38 pm
    everythings better naked
    - bufus101 October 18, 2011, 9:00 pm
    I beg to differ.
Your father takes you to work. Your father works in a mine. You are surrounded by big, strong men, naked in a mine.
None of them have seen a woman for a few days at least and you are all naked, in the dark where nobody can hear you.
I'm sure that situation would be better clothed ;)

unless your gay. just poked a big hole in your logic
    - bufus101 October 18, 2011, 9:50 pm
Oooooooo well played. Ok well if you are gay then that might not be so bad, but for all of us straight guys, that would be dreadful.

    this is true haha

holy f***ing s**t thats sooooo cool

how awesome would it be if you have it in cars and streets, than we would have our "flying cars" or at least levitating, which would use less gas and so on

We could stop by smashing into the car in front of us!

the floating object is super conducting and is locking the magnetic field to an x and y axis. it is magnets so vans was right.

  • 1

it would be cool to be levitated like that, just going around and around and around... untill you puke to death.

    Gypsy Black Magic. Clearly.

it was touched by chuck norrius

Who is Chuck Norrius? A tribute act for Chuck Norris?

    its the same to me

Basically what's happening is a cancellation of magnetic forces. It's quite cool but I've seen something like this before. The magnetic attraction force between the two metals is equaled by the gravitational force.

    I still don't get it.
    - TryThat October 21, 2011, 1:10 pm
    well I tried my best
all you need to know that because of the cooling the magnetic field kinda disforms to something like pipes so the objekt does not move away from that position, it is locked just like metal to a magnet, but because of this dosformed field it doesnt actually touch the magnet
just like magnet can push each other without touching

    it is hard to explain
    - Vans October 21, 2011, 1:35 pm
Anything with 'Quantum' in the name is hard to explain.
    - TryThat October 21, 2011, 1:45 pm
