Avid metal fan here, can't say these are my thing though. Way too clean in the case of Born of Osiris and Volumes. Danza 4 is almost nothing but wank but still is a guilty pleasure. A whole lot of these are fairly well know in the genre. Thanks for sharing though not enough metal posts on the site.

More of a Faceless kind of guy?

Although I enjoyed the latest faceless album it's far from my album of the year. here is a list of metal albums I liked that were released this year. Not guaranteeing you'll like any of them though.
    Neurosis-Honor Found in Decay
    Pig Destroyer-Book Burner
    Witch Mountain-Cauldron of the Wild
Converge-All We Love We Leave Behind
    Every Time I Die-Ex Lives
    Enslaved-RIITIIR
    Grave-Endless Procession of Souls
    The Chariot-One Wing
    Murder Construct-Results
    GAZA-No Absolutes in Human Suffering
    Nachtmystium-Silencing Machine
    Ash Borer-Cold of Ages
    Gojira-L'Enfant Sauvage
    Deathspell Omega-Drought
    Agalloch-Faustian Echoes
    Ne Obliviscaris-Portal of I
    Enabler-All Hail The Void
    Be'Lakor-of Breath and Bone
    Kreator-Phantom Antichrist
    High on Fire-De Vermis Mysteriius
    Black Breath-Sentenced to Life
    Meshuggah-Koloss
    Rise and Fall-Faith
    Lord Mantis-Pervertor
Abyssal-Denouement(probably my favorite death metal release of the year)
    Xilbalba-Hasta La Muerte
    Aborted-Global Flatline
Its a bit of a extensive list but it covers a whole lot of sub-genres of metal. Anywhere from black metal to hardcore.

Honestly only know 2 of the bands listed very well, them being Meshuggah and Gojira. I thought Gojira took a step back with LE. Only really liked Explosia and L'enfant on that album. Meshuggah is Meshuggah, their always great. I mainly listen to metalcore, power metal, and groove metal. More on the clean vocals to screaming side but I do like some black/death metal.

I can agree with Gojira stepping back on the new record, my favorite track was The Axe. Try some of the bands out if hey interest you.Specifically I recommend Every Time I Die's and Enslaved's new albums if you like clean vocals. Also if you haven't try out the new Deftones tracks, not really metal but its good none the less.

Will do. Out of curiosity, what's your favorite band at the moment?
    - Jjbigscreeners November 4, 2012, 8:34 pm
Singling it down to one band right now is difficult. As of right now my favorites are
    O'brother(Shoe gazy indie)
    Murder By Death(Folky indie)
    The Black Dahlia Murder(melo death)
    Godspeed you!Black Emperor (Post Rock)
    and Fleshgod Apocalypse(death metal)
Strangely enough most of those aren't metal.
If I had to choose a favorite right now it either be Fleshgod or Murder By Death.

I think mine would be Machine Head.

Machine head kicks ass, the blackening is a near masterpiece and unto the locust was a good listen as well.
    - Turtlestlker November 4, 2012, 8:58 pm
Agreed. I absolutely love The Blackening. Locust was pretty good but Burn My Eyes is probably my 2nd favorite album by them.

Machine head helped start my journey into metal, well them along with Lamb of God and DevilDriver.
    - Turtlestlker November 4, 2012, 9:14 pm
They are true metal. Love them.

If you like DevilDriver then go see them live, definitely a good time. Can't speak for LoG or Machine Head. Haven't had the opportunity to see them live yet.
