    basically, macs are for hipsters

    yeah pretty much
    - Mocahking May 23, 2011, 10:05 am
not at all. its like a stereotype. im a mac person, but im an electrical engineer. i am nowhere near a hipster but i still like mac's software more than PC. yes mac is over priced and their software is locked down, but thats the good thing about it. youd have to be a fucktard to break it. if i could make a 17" HP laptop and put mac software on it, that would be my dream computer

I guess it all really depends on what you're actually going to use your computer for

yeah. it is cool how customizable PC's are but i like the layout of mac's software better. the application system of it is awesome. plus it comes standard with some really useful apps

See, You like a locked down, simple press-button format, where I'm a gamer, so I like complicated, interesting, malleable interfaces that allow me to customize everything.

mac bases their entire marketing premise on the assumption that their customers are morons.

"too stupid to use a PC? cant figure out how to turn it on and off?buy a mac! it just works!"

based on what i gathered from this survey, people that buy macs are the type of people that just want to be percieved as different. usually this drive is due to someone being so boring and generic that they look for external means of being different, isntead of... youknow, actually being an individual.

just look at how many mac users said random 2 people will be more alike than different. thats called projection. they see themselves as being be more similar than different from any random person. which is what drives them to do anything to make themselves appear different. from the way they dress to their "indie" taste in movies.

yet someone that assumes more people are different, usually would come from the idea that they are different from everyone they know, so based on that; most people are like that. yet these people typically dont need to make superficial external statements to project that they are different.

its simple psycology. when you want to find out how a person percieves themself, you ask general questions about abstract groups of people, and weigh their answers.

this isnt 100% of mac users of course.

and i loved that on the windows XP i had back in the day, but the viruses and bullshit i had to deal with completely overrode that. plus i can download anything i want and never have to worry about a virus. i like the structured set-up because it has no failing
    - bufus101 May 24, 2011, 5:18 am
And this is why I have AVG anti-virus.
    - FireRoastedFire May 24, 2011, 6:01 am
yet i dont have anything at all and i havent gotten a virus in a year. since i got the comp
    - bufus101 May 24, 2011, 6:13 am
I have had two. One, I found and crushed like a bug, the other I just system restored to a checkpoint 5 mins earlier. Bad timing on the virus' behalf.
    - FireRoastedFire May 24, 2011, 6:21 am
lol yeah i just dont like to have to deal with that. plus i like the layout of macs better. the application based software is really nice

I prefer the power and reliability of a PC. Macs are fun, but don't support alot of games and not to mention, they grab you by the balls when it comes to compatible equipment.

Well... It turns out for a Mac person, Im awfully like a PC person :)

TBH, i never actually knew how much Mac users were supposedly 'hipsters'. Now I can definitely see that. It's probably more of a hipster thing in the US, because I don't see many Mac users that are Hipsters (or act like hipsters) in the UK.

It's just statistics. You probably fall into the lower percentage that isn't mentioned on the Mac side.

there aren't many hipsters in the UK. Yet. But it will come and on that day the world as we know it will end. There will be thick framed black glasses and Starbucks cups everywhere. Bands you have never heard off will be playing throughout the streets. And no matter how much you try you will never be as underground as them.

But I wont care because I hate people (IRL) and stay in doors all day :)

    And that's why I paintball.

Plus, it gives me arms training for the Hipster apocalypse. Gun them down with commercial, mainstream brand paintballs.

Like how I have nothing but PC's and Love both the Daily Show and the Colbert Report.

And I am a tech-savvy gearhead, but agree that computer-talk is a foreign language. I just happen to know the language.
    - FireRoastedFire May 24, 2011, 3:42 am
    Yea woo mainstream!!!
    - GinjaNinja May 24, 2011, 6:03 am
Everyone knows that hipsters are destroyed my mainstream brand paintballs.

    Dye paintballs. Oh, the irony.
