...So I have a creepy uncle who on average, every time I see him, hugs me for about 3 seconds too long. (I know what you're thinking: "3 seconds is too long for a hug anyway!" Spot on.) So I'll see him on Christmas day. HOW on earth do I avoid his hugs, while hugging other relatives, OR, worst-case scenario: how do I escape from his hugs once I'm already in his grasp? *Shudder*

    reach your hand out for a hand shake. using it to block an incomming hug... as soon as the hand shake is done... move to someone else quickly. if its a big problem, greet everyone very late... most people dont "hug hello" after a certain amount of time.

    this may cause some awkwardness, so to make everyone at ease... just say "homey dont play that", drop the shiv, and walk away.

      Well thanks but a shiving (shivving?) might put a damper on our Christmas festivities...I like the handshake idea though!

        im sure if you do that "in living color" reference, everyone will get a good laugh out of it, and totally forget about the "incident".

        jokes aside, that (handshake block) and showing up late is a perfect way to avoid awkward "hellos"

    Well everyone, it was a success. We showed up on time, and I wasn't holding hands with my bf (a defensive move my brother suggested). Creepy Uncle didn't even lean in for a hug! LOL I was like, "Whew!"
