Japan Earthquake+tsunami 3 march 2011

OK, for those who don't know, even though i'm pretty sure you do, here is how the Richter scale works:
If you imagine 1 on Richter just being 1, 2 on Richter is 20 times 1, which means 2 on Richter would be 20. Then 3 on Richter would be 20 times 2 on Richter, and 4 on Richter being 20 times 3 on Richter e.t.c.
That makes the 8.9 earthquake in Japan being pretty fucking much!
Note that the earthquake in Haiti was somewhere about 7 on Richter!
So the earthquake in Japan would be about 18 times more powerful according to that.(edit:it would be a lot more times powerful, sorry :/ )
But that's all i know and i don't know if my information is completely correct, so correct me if you can :)
But my best wishes to all the people affected by this, and the families of those people!
The death toll is now over 1000, and there are more than 10.000 missing people :C

I'm gonna say it's gonna reach thousands. Too much devastation for it not too. The official death toll may be hundreds now, but there's hundreds more missing.. It's so sad.. :(

I also saw a video showing this exact footage just it showed the water hitting the road and eventually flooding over it like there's nothing there!

You got the Richter Scale wrong for every step up in the scale (1-2), Its not 10x more powerful, It's 1000 times as strong. So compared to the one in New Zealand, the Japan Quake was 8000 times bigger.
