Its my birthday bitches

It's my birthday bitches. I actually wanted to do this last year because last year it was my 21st birthday. You know what that means at least in 'merica.
In germany it is now march, 20th so probably there are a few hours til my birthday in 'merica.
So I am 22 now and I feel so freaking old.

I got 22 pictures for y'all so it wont be that boring.

Some fun facts about germany:
With 14 you can get into jail. You can drink beer and wine as long as your parents are with you.
With 16 you can offically drink beer and wine.
With 18 your criminal data will be erased, you can get your drivers license and drink liqueur.
With 21 you can get a license for commercial trucks and to transport people for taxis or bus and stuff.

I think that is all but I could've forget something.

    i like #18
ahh i've forgotten how to say happy birthday in German, it's something like 'glücklich neues zum Geburstag' but i really don't know
    man, i'm a terrible German
and i'm doing an A level German in 2 months...oh boy

anyway, have a great day man :D

you mean herzlichen glückwunsch zum geburtstag
    neues=new
so that doesnt make a lot of sense XD
glücklich=being happy that is kinda the adjective
    glückwünsch=wishing luck
herzlich=from the heart/from the bottom of my heart, something like that

hope that explains why yours is wrong and what herzlichen glückwunsch means

    and thanks a lot haha

hm, i was sorta there? :P
i thought you had to use neues because that's what you say with happy new year, 'glückliches neues Jahr', so i thought it was the same thing being used, as if you were saying happy new birthday, or something like that :P
anyway, cheers for clearing it up :D

well because it is a new year. But your birthday is nothing new, it starts a new year for you maybe but I dont know. There is just nothing new just your age changes kinda.
    Just like christmas, nothing new.

German isn't that far away from english. Of course sayings are usually really different but usually you can find a lot of similarities.

"German isn't that far away from english"
except that it' impossible to learn, i agree :P

    it is hard I know.
But when I was learning english I noticed some similarities. The grammar is different sometimes, thats true, and of course the words arent that similar. In spanish, french and italian you can find a lot words that are almost the same and stuff.
You can do it, I tought a turkish girl german and that is a whole different language, really. And she did it. Kind of. XD

Dont worry there are many people in germany that cant speak and write proper german. And for many learning english is soooooo hard, but it's really pretty easy.
In my opinion it is really helpful to watch stuff in another language. I was always watching my favorite shows I almost knew by heart in english.
First you start of with subtitle in your language, then in the language you want to learn and ultimately turn them off.
It helps alot of people to learn.

And german only has 2000 words, english for example has around 6000 words in the oxford dictionary.

thanks for the tip about watching stuff, i might start doing that, i'll look into it

you say German has only 2000 words, but there's all the different cases & genders, you need to know whether to use der, dem, den, die, das,....e.t.c
    complicated!!!
    - Fail4424 March 20, 2013, 2:33 pm
well it's just like in most other languages. Everything has a gender. This happens when there is more than just "the"
der die das, un une le la, el la los las and so on
    - Vans March 20, 2013, 4:44 pm
English doesn't have genders though, so i'm not used to it :P
    - Fail4424 March 20, 2013, 6:01 pm
I know but in other languages everything has some kind of gender. You gonna do it
