Is Avatar worth watching?
I've heard some mixed reviews about 'Avatar', and it's like 2 and a half hours long. Which is a hell of a long commitment...
What was your opinion of the movie?

Art work was stolen by an artist named Roger Dean. Never gave him credit or anything. The images below were all done in the late 80's or early 90's. Even if they did not blatantly steal the art, it was heavily inspired by his work. Even the creatures, esp. the Toruk came from other works of his. He just deserves the proper credit. Otherwise it is a great movie.

you cant really point out one guy who drew floating islands and say that the scenery was stolen from him. people have been thinking up stuff like this for years.
people are allowed to take inspiration from other ideas.
I saw it in 3d with my wife .... it was FANTASTIC. I heard mixed reviews too , but have to say that the story was pretty well written and the special effects were amazing.... You should definitely go see it in the theaters rather than DVD.
It was a great movie, very nice effects and beautiful places. I also watched it in 3D. But of course it's not the best movie I ever saw. Cause a perfect movie doens't only need good effects and stuff but also a very good story. I liked the Avatar story, but it was predictable. Anyway, it's an epic movie.
Agreed. It was amazing but I personally think the story line of, say, V for Vendetta was more exciting and original. But yeah, I would recommend it :)
That movie was AWESOMe. If you see it see it in 3-D. Ide say its hit the top of my movie list. The Navi look so realistic i thought they wee real. The scenery is beautiful i would want to live there SOOOO bad. GO SEE IT NAO!!
saw it w/ my cousin and he is a graphic designer and he said it was 9.9 out of 10. i give it the same score. it was also the highest grossing movie of the year, 68.5 million the weekend it came out, and so far 352.1 million total, and it is still in theatres! it also beat out the dreadful new moon movie by over 60 million in just new moons first weekend. all twilight saga movie sucks.
HELL OF A MOVIE dude defently watch it
It is a great movie, the special effects and 3-D do a lot for it. I have seen it twice, and noticed much the second i saw it. The story is good, but very predictable.
*Kinda Spoiler*
The ending kinda sets up for a sequel (or even more), but you can guess that, cause it is just good business.

Personnally i think it's overrated. It was alright but not as good as some people have said/done.
you love it definitley worth the 16 years of wait
Visually stunning. Good story for the most part. And don't just say it's exactly like Dances with Wolves, Last samurai, Etc. If you go by the most generalized story possible, they are quite similar, but they are still not the same.
this did irk me a bit, but one little detail isn't going to ruin a movie for me.
I saw it. Sure there was some controversy behind it, like the artist stealing and no credit, and the fact that it's similar to the Pocahantas storyline.. I still felt like it was much better, had absolutely stunning effects that have been perfected for years, a brilliant plot, and jsut the right balance of action and love, but that's in my opinion. It also does show what the future would be like, us taking over some planets finding some material that we need critically to survive. This is just my opinion, but I gave it a 5 out of 5.
Just have a friend that saw it and liked it buy it and watch it with him/her. If you like it, buy it. If you don't, well it was still a good experience to watch another movie and add it to your list. :D

responding to old post...bad idea but here goes.
is unobtainium(queer name for it isnt it?) really needed for life? Specifically, no. all thats needed is a shelter, air, food, water, and *MAYBE* some company. everything else is history.

If ou've ever seen dances with wolves, the last samurai, or pocohontas, you'll see that the only thing that differes is the characters names, and their backgrounds. Its all the same except newers and with different names. Otherwise watch it.
