    Yes, thats a stronghold. I would make sure you NEVER lose it, because I think in release version, there is a maximum of 3 strongholds per map. In Beta, it used to be 1 stronghold per map :l

    Anyway - somewhere in it, you will find an "end portal" frame, accompanied by a Silverfish spawner. Watch out, silverfish are the worst mobs ever. Destroy that spawner ASAP.

    You then have to get lots of "Eye of Ender" - these are crafted by combining "Ender Pearls" dropped by Endermen with "Blaze Powder" dropped by Blazes (new nether mob). You then need to right click each block in the frame to put an eye of ender in. Once its filled, an end portal will form.

    You can work out the rest of it from there.

      yeah i know how to do all of that lol. thanks for the advice though. also, why does everyone keep saying silverfish are so bad? they arent that difficult to kill... and i searched the entire place, didnt find the portal frames =/
