How to post flash games on Sharenator

Sharenator.com > How to post flash games on Sharenator
Let's say you've found an interesting flash game on other website and you'd like to see it on Sharenator as well. The usuall routine would be:

Step 1: Check if this game hasn't been posted to Sharenator yet (use search)
Step 2: Dowload the game (.swf file) to your computer
Step 3: Upload the .swf file to Sharenator
Step 4: Post it!

How do I download a flash game?

Here comes the tricky part. Dowloading a flash game is not always easy. There are two ways of doing this - one is easier and other requires some html knowledge (viewing the source code to find a link to .swf file).

The easier way

If you're a firefox user, there are plenty of addons created just for this. My favorite is Download Embedded. From the description:

"When the Download Embedded plugin detects an embedded object, a small red arrow will appear on the status bar at the bottom of your firefox window. Just click that and either download them all or pick which ones you want to download.".

To install Download Embedded, go to this link:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1993

Once you have this addon installed, go to the page you want to dowload your flash game from. Click on red arrow in the bottom right corner of your firefox window. Look for .swf file. Click to download it.

Vuala! You've downloaded the flash game. You can now upload it to Sharenator.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask in this thread.

If you know a good flash game but you don't want to add it yourself, you can request it to be uploaded in the following thread:

Let's bring the best games to Sharenator!

To download a game (for noobs who dont use FireFox):
Go to the game on another site (eg miniclip)
Go to 'View Source'. Normally Ctrl+U (In intnernet explorer, View>Source)
search for swf
Look for the string thats like the game
eg: swfobject-blah ("http://www.miniclip.com/example.swf") or sometimes just "/games/example.swf in this case, add it to the end of the folder, so if the page is miniclip.com/games/example-game then it would be www.miniclip.com/games/example-game/games/example.swf
Once you have this .swf file, Copy it.
---
Now there are two things you can do:
--
1) Upload to Sharenator.com
Paste into the address bar
WITHOUT clicking the game, press Ctrl+S and save as example.swf
Now you can upload this file...
2) Dont upload to sharenator (you can still post the full game, just without having to upload file)
Click 'New Post'
Put any stuff like 'controls' in the post. then put flash tags around your link,
example [ flash]http://www.miniclip.com/games/example.swf[ /flash]
PLEASE NOTE: there isnt a space in the flash tag. Its like [flash not [ flash. I only put the space in it otherwise it would think its a flash file and you wouldnt see the text.
hope i helped, anti firefox noobs

depends on browser and OS. if you use internet explorer, CTRL + U doesnt work, like i said. go to view > source. it will be something similar in most browsers. on Mac, in chrome its command+alt+u

Your embedded download is outdated now, for later firefox versions use
addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5258
