How far can I go with a 16 year old before I get myself into trouble?
I have a 94 Civic, and it's run pretty good so far, but I'm planning a couple of long trips over the next few months. The car is approaching 200,000 miles. Trade it in, or risk getting stranded in the deep south or the pacific northwest or someplace ridiculous like that?

You ever heard of Militec? its basically jesus in a bottle for vehicles
Take it to a Honda dealership and get it checked into. Make sure you get a coupon and be prepared for the worst. They won't make shit up like most mechanics, and you will know when you leave there whether or not you can take it across the country.
It is a Honda Civic, so there is a good chance you will make it 500,000 miles without any major issues, as long as you get regular maintenance. My wife had hers for 15 years with no problems and sold it for 2x the trade in value on Craigslit. They are great cars.

if you do take the car, take a stranded preparedness kit. you know, sleeping bags, a triple A card, flashlights, a case of beer, that sort of stuff.
