by the fist part i am guessing you are referring to the" The british did most of the bloody fighting," fighting part? if that is so i would ask for you to site president in the matter. this statement can easily be picked apart by anyone who has finished high school world history.
Nah i was referring to the S.A.S being the most elite force. And a little on the part that you just quoted. The bloody ghurkas did more fighting, maybe not on the frontlines in Germany but in places like burma.

the answer to the question is quite easy. you need the correct tool for the right job. same goes for special forces. they all have a different job, or mission objective. if i am wounded behind in a war zone i would rather see the air force para jumpers than the sas.. why? thats their mission. for that situation they are the correct tool for the job.

how am i to know what you are talking about if you don't tell me. tell me this do you even know what the mission objective of the SAS is? let me ask you another way, you see the sas is a tool in the brithish tool box, what are they best at? you say they are best at initial fighting, yet i have personaly served with royal marines who would say if you must take a beach head, the marines would be the way to go. the lesson i am hoping you are learning is that in life rarely is some one the best at everything, they can only be the best at what they train to do.
