Hearts In Rhythm

Dear Friends of Sharenator,

I haven't been around much but I need your help to spread the word.

My mom has been here visiting and she commented on my behavior. She said I'd become so hardened of late. The first reaction in my head was "shut up you don't know me!" but as I let it sink in over the next couple of days I realized she was right. I've fought so long and hard not to let that happen but it did. I needed a change. And thus the birth of a project I believe in. I needed to reconnect to my heart and the belief that this world can change. That we can become more than greed and self interest. That we can and need to reach out with kindness and compassion instead of hatred and indifference. I'll never give up hope that we can. So this is my pledge.

This is my pledge for one year (starting January 1, 2013-December 31, 2013). Each month I will ask members of this group to do one good deed (or more good deeds, there is no limit) and post a photo or video of the good deed(s) on the group wall with the story behind it. Each member will be asked to vote through likes. At the end of the month, the person with the the most likes will receive a $50 gift card from me.

I recognize that humans need incentives to start and that this project might seem a little counter intuitive but I also know to be a good leader you have to lead by example.

$50/month isn't much but it is to me. I work in non-profit and don't make much but I can cut enough expenses to come up with $50/month to get people engaged. Its worth it. Its worth it to see people spreading kindness and to also help a person with an extra $50 when they might need it. So please share, get the word out and lets work on making the world a better place. We are the future leaders or we're raising the future leaders of this world and we need examples to teach future generations.

in theory it's a good idea, the incentive is nice but that could easily turn it into something about self-interest and greed. i try to do a good deed once a week. it doesn't offset all my heinous acts but it makes me feel a little better about myself. why, last week i helped a family save money by accidentally hitting their cat when it ran out in front of my truck. honestly though, i couldn't stop and swerving didn't work.

Mikytey yes it could easily turn into something about self-interest and greed but through one person's greed and self-interest another person's life is affected in a positive way. Its not about making yourself feel better, its about making someone else feel better and maybe giving them a little hope. We all need hope and there will be a day when someone desperately needs hope all it takes is a small kindness from a stranger. It is something we have to work on every day.

I'd rather try this and fail than not try at all. And I'll keep trying. I'll keep pushing back against this world as hard as it pushes against me. I'm glad you were able to help your family save money, sorry about the cat though. Sometimes things can't be helped. I hope you join the group.
