    The only real football

The moments depicted in these highlights are very much only famous for their context, i.e. game-winning goals etc.
So it's pretty fucking impressive when you consider physical feats of this level of awesomeness occur on a weekly basis in AFL.
There're a few videos around of Americans being shown AFL, and having their minds blown. Wish I could find them.

it's clearly not the only real football...
    - Fail4424 August 14, 2013, 1:28 pm
Minds blown at what? How short their shorts are?
    - casper667 August 14, 2013, 9:52 pm
shit video, hardly any West Coast Eagles in it
    - poopiteepoop August 17, 2013, 7:28 am
No, minds blown at people managing NBA-tier vertical leaps whilst catching a leather ball kicked from 50 metres away, with all the dangers of a full-contact sport surrounding them. On a weekly basis.
Look at 2:05. He had no help getting up there.

Geez, not only does no one hardly ever score, but you also let the game end with no winner sometimes?

the fact that there area a lot less goals in this than American football, doesn't that mean that each time a goal does go in, it's more exciting? Because in your game there is a goal every 5 minutes or something, when in our game just one goal can change everything

and yea, it can end in a win, draw or loss. Except some cup matches where it goes to extra time if it ends at a draw - which is an extra 30 minutes playing, and if it's still a draw it goes to a penalty shoot-out
    - Fail4424 August 11, 2013, 6:54 am
No, seeing more goals is definitely more exciting. I think there's also a lot more strategy since theres 6 7 or 8 points you can get for a touchdown, and 3 points for a field goal (and 2 for safety but that rarely happens). You have to know when to go for what.

As a Packer Fan, I really found this game interesting (mainly in the second half):

*i'll watch the video in a minute, so if you read this response before i edit it, i haven't seen it yet
but the games in football, where there's an endless amount of goals, often get boring, winning 4-0, 5-0 etc, just goal after goal and no excitement
recentely there was a 9-2 and i can imagine that being so boring to watch of just complete domination!
But, there are a lot of games that are 3-3, 4-4, 5-4 etc Those are amazing
However, the 1-0's can often be just as exciting, because of all the drama & suspense that just one goal can change everything
    - Fail4424 August 11, 2013, 11:39 am
i've seen the video now, and yea, pretty good game i suppose, but it did nothing for me :P
for me personally, as a Chelsea fan, this is probably the most exciting game i've ever seen:
background info, Barcelona - team in red/blue were the best team in the world at this point, they're at home, and they need to win by 2 goals or more. Chelsea are about the 5th/6th best in the world

and then there's a number of exciting games that you might be interested in seeing, let me know if you want me to recommend one :D :P

What difference does it make if the game is 5-5 or 35-35? Lots of football and soccer games come down to the last few minutes, and I'm sure other sports are no different. In the previous game I showed you, the Steelers were heavily favored (packers being just a wild card team, barely even made the playoffs). There's so many games that are really close, especially as the playoffs eliminate a lot of the inferior teams.

Also, let's not forget the glorious thing known as the LFL (skip to about 10min in to skip the intros):

Haha nice! But it actually just proves why such a silly sport had to be renamed to 'soccer' :P Tackle??? You call that a tackle???

    lol :P
but to be fair, that tackle was kinda shit
    watch this:
    - Fail4424 August 14, 2013, 12:27 am
I've seen harder tackles in highschool football games...
    - casper667 August 14, 2013, 9:41 pm
Indeed, those are good plays (for the sport:) I would correct you but it looks like casper667 beat me to the punch:)
    - ensignredshirt August 15, 2013, 1:24 am
Excellent sir! Good mix of pro, cfb, high school, that...arena??? Wow, that's still around huh?
    - ensignredshirt August 15, 2013, 1:26 am
when did i say i was trying to show you the hardest tackles in our game? :P
I was just showing you what proper slide tackles look like, not the one in the main video :P
Obviously your game is going to have the harder tackles, you're actually trying to knock the person over, we're just trying to take the ball from them, so it's no contest in that department :P But when did i say i was trying to make it one? :P

If you're interested, this is a compilation of the hardest tackles in our game
    - Fail4424 August 15, 2013, 1:55 am
why do i need correcting? :P
I wasn't showing you that our game has harder tackles than yours, that's stupid, as i said above, no contest
i was just showing you what an actual tackle was, not like the one in the main video :P
    - Fail4424 August 15, 2013, 1:56 am
Oh oh oh man!!! Nice clip, saw a couple of torn ACLs in there for sure, among other torn/broken body parts! Yeah maybe 'correcting' wasn't the right word, but I'm just messing around...I love the american football vs. the world's football debate or antagonism or whatever it is and you're like the only one I've come across who's main sport is the non-american football so I can't help but be a little antagonistic (I am after all an american). Oh, and I think I've heard you or others call our football 'hand egg'...So hilariously accurate, still makes me laugh XD But damn it! It's football!!! lol
    - ensignredshirt August 15, 2013, 10:33 pm
    hahaha :P
-not sure if you know or not i don't actually call it handegg, that's just an online joke with anyone who is American :P
but yea there can definitely be a lot of broken legs in our game, you see the first video i showed with the slide tackles, imagine if you're a split second out with the dive in, the ball has moved away, and instead you catch the guys ankle...ouch
    - Fail4424 August 15, 2013, 11:03 pm
i've told it to a few hard core football fans and they give a typical american response and only sometimes give a grudging acknowledgement that it's a more accurate description of american football.
There was a guy on my high school soccer team that had something like you're describing happen to him. Was during practice, a 3 on 2 drill, and the defender slide tackled him, broke both leg bones above the ankle, was gross watching him hold his leg up, he was on crutches for months.
    - ensignredshirt August 21, 2013, 2:19 am
    and i say again...ouch
    poor guy
i've never had anything bad happen to me, except last season i got injured in every single game i play, and never completed the full 90 minutes
But to be fair, the majority of the people i play with are in their 40's, i'm 17 :P
It's an old boys squad, so anyone who was ever at my school can play, as long as you're over 16 you can join - it's not me just playing with old pervs in the park at midnight... :P hahaha
    - Fail4424 August 21, 2013, 1:12 pm
haha that's awesome, I used to play in the old man's hockey league when in high school, we were the Coors Tavern team and our jerseys had a fat guy shooting a six-pack instead of a puck as a logo
    - ensignredshirt August 23, 2013, 12:07 am
ahhaha, how do you even shoot a six pack?? :P :O
