Flagging posts

Sharenator.com > Flagging posts
You should flag or report someones post just because they posted something. Have a reason. I am tired of all of these awesome posts from myself and MissRandom as well as others being deleted because some idiot didn't like it. That's what the rate function is for. The flagging and reporting craze is absolute dogbreath. Please stop. If it doesn't then I hope the admins get rid of this flag function and instead have moderators do their jobs.

It would be nice to have a system where individual images could be flagged or reported. Then it would be possible for the poster to remove the offensive image(s) without having their entire post disappear.

Most people would willingly remove any offending image(s) if they were simply asked to. I have recommended the removal of single pictures before, and usually they do it.

That's funny how we have spent half of the day talking about this while working today and you bring this up too. Genius minds think alike :)

So yeah, 100%. We need this.

So do you believe this would be something that could be implemented? Because it would probably be best to let the community regulate itself in all but the most extreme cases.

he has been letting the community regulate itself. And look where that led to. I also like the idea of banning the report or flag button for someone who uses it too much, which is similar to facebook's ban on like feature if it thinks you are being a nuisance.

The current community has only rough tools for self regulation. Hopefully, with better tools, the community would be able to better regulate itself.

Is there anything wrong with the concept of letting the poster to choose whether or not to remove any images that are flagged so they can keep the rest of their post relatively intact?

Maybe there should also be a system in place that would allow someone to appeal a flagged post to the mods. If something were to be wrongly flagged then it could be fixed.
But in order to have a system in place like that, we would need a more clear definition of what should and should not be flagged.

Please don't ruin your perfectly fine and awesome posts with one inappropriate picture.

We don't have tools of taking one picture off the post yet, so the entire post gets flagged and taken off the front page. Also, you will be able to view flagged posts once the site gets updated (you will be able to switch between work/family safe and home modes), so this will not be a problem soon.

What I want to say is that we're aware of problems with current flagging system and we're working to improve that, but for now, please keep the site as clean as possible.

I think we need a "reason" button and a picture number on the report function, and maybe take away report privs from people if they abuse it?

agreed

Majority of posts are clean, and if it is brought to my attention I would fix the post and remove the picture/s in question. But I swear that some people are just doing it because they don't like the post.

Edit: And I believe the reason they do that is because of the system you have against downrating posts now.

I think that the flagging system is rubbish. All someone needs to do to flag a post and get it removed from the homepage forever more is click a button. No confirmation needed as far as I'm aware, it just needs 1 guy to click a buttn and boom. Gone forever.

I however can no longer flag people because after one of my posts was flagged I got mad and went through every post I could find with sexual suggestions or pictures and flagged them all all in the space of about 10 minutes. Since then I have never been able to flag anything ever again so one can only assume I have had my flagging rights taken away from me.

Therefore any posts that are flagged are not me so you can't blame me! :)
