i'm pretty sure no one's actually that foolish to think it's actually German
otherwise every single 11-14 year old girl in England would already be fluent :P
*facepalm
and tbh to him, he's probably better at German than 50% of the American population, and the scary thing is that's probably true :/
Americans.....what can you do other than facepalm? XD
There is actually a fairly good reason that Americans don't speak multiple languages.
For Americans, it's unnecessary to speak any language other than English. You can travel in any direction for nearly 1,000 miles and rarely encounter anyone who doesn't speak English. So in daily American life it's not practical to speak German or French, as most everyone has at least a workable understanding of the English language.
It's more practical to speak multiple languages in Europe, because if you travel 1,000 kilometers in Europe you are likely to run into people speaking 3 or 4 different languages.
Also, I have a question, should I go to Japan or England when I get the chance. Those are two places I want to learn about.
~edit~
Nevermind, rant removed.
maybe instead of learning every itty bitty about the own country learn a bit more about the rest of the world? Instead of taking your knowledge about the rest from TV shows
