They keep on saying that they won't die, even if they are killed. If they die, then they can't be killed because they are already dead. It's not the best explanation I know, but it's 11:16pm so deal with it.

the one from Death note makes sense there is a distinct difference between being "killed" and dying.. both involve dying but one is not an action of the other
