Do What to that User?

finger user

FYI... This can be found on Mac OS X. I used 10.6 (Snow Leopard), so it is probably available on Leopard too. It is found in Applications > Utilities > Network Utility. Then click the "Finger" tab

Could someone actually explain to me what this means :P

I know what ping, whois, traceroute and all the other networking, but not Finger xD

Never heard of an internet fingering before. Whoever came up with that is either crazy or VERY talented.

    Quoted from wikipedia:
In computer networking, the Name/Finger protocol and the Finger user information protocol are simple network protocols for the exchange of human-oriented status and user information.

I didn't find this funny, tho I am working as support and we do finger users a lot. :p
It basically shows you info about that user account.

And btw, I don't know how you can get dirty thoughts from this. My first thought when seeing the finger command was "Oh, so it's like you're pointing your finger at that user!".

How can you NOT have dirty thoughts?!

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that the act of "fingering a user" isn't common knowledge, this forces people to use their imagination to figure it out. The depths of said imaginations being so unfathomable that any assortment of creepy crawlies may issue forth in spectacular fashion. Usually in some form of perverse expression.

    Or it might be immaturity.

    Both explanations have equal merit.
