Immigrants does all the dirty work you don't want to do and they are tax payers too. Young, productive and educated people gets green card easier and they they are skilled workers. So in my opinion immigrants boost the whole American economy.
Even those illegal immigrants who don't pay taxes they work hard for the welfare of all people.

Just to put a little spin on how much illegal immigration costs you as a taxpayer. The average state spends ~$7500 a year per student, for public education. Take into consideration that most illegal immigrants have 4-6 kids in public education, and you are paying over $30,000 a year just for their kids.

With an estimated 1/2 a million children born a year to illegal immigrants, you are looking at over $48.75 billion to send their kids to public school from K-12.

But they don't pay income taxes if they are illegal so then they are a burden on the system.

I have no problem with Legal Immigrants. But Illegal immigrants have already broken the law before being here longer than 1 second. They shouldn't be given anything, and their kids should be treated the same way.

Yeh, because a fucking machine couldn't pick lettuce and tomatoes?

They replaced slaves with machines 150 years ago for picking cotton. They can do the same with illegal immigrants.

If we are going to do the "back in the day logic", then nobody is a true american because the Native Americans traveled across a land bridge to get to this continent. I refuse to take responsibilty for whatever my ancestors may have done.

as stated above, my only problem is with illegal immigrants is the tax paying issue. If I was king for a day I would hand out green cards to everyone willing to pay taxes for their country.

"If one attitude can be said to characterize America's regard for immigration over the past two hundred years it is the belief that while immigration was unquestionably a wise and prescient thing in the case of one's parents or grandparents, it really ought to stop now. For two hundred years succeeding generations of Americans have persuaded themselves that the country faced imminent social dislocation, and eventual ruin, at the hands of the grasping foreign hordes poring through her ports".

Bill Bryson - Made in America

My favourite American author. He's usually funnier than this, I promise. We have exacly the same arguments about immigration here though unfortunately.

There is a huge difference between Illegal and Legal Immigrants. My Great Great Grandfather came to America legally as did my Great Grandmother on my father's side. On my mother's side, they have been in America for too damn long to trace it.

Everytime someone comes to America Illegally, it makes it harder for those people who are patiently waiting and doing everything right, to get their citizenship. So not only are they screwing over the current citizens, they are screwing over prospective law-biding future citizens.

God so many people bitch about immigration, when all they are doing is coming here for a better life and for cheap labor how could you be against that?

I am not against immigration. I just ask that it be done in the legal manner. If you accused me of racism or bigotry for this you are ignorant and terribly upset for no reason. What we need to do is make the process to becoming a legal citizen easier so there is less desire and need to come illegally.

Ok so first of all I work in the Ag industry in Cali. Second, lets just forget the field work for a second. You forget about the packing plants where immigrant workers check quality so people don't have rotted or imperfect produce. Next let us think about how immigrant labor is much cheaper for a farmer than purchasing a machine. We are all perpetuation an imperfect system.

I don't begrudge people wanting a better life but I do get upset that my taxes are paying for people not paying taxes themselves. And no illegal immigrants are not paying taxes. You have to have a SSN to get taxes taken out. If you have a SSN then you aren't illegal. Illegal immigrants get the benefit of food stamps with paying the price we do. I find that unfair because there are others out there that aren't breaking the law who can not get the help afforded to illegal immigrants.

I'm all for immigrants coming to America to make a better life but it should be legally and they should have to pay the price everyone does to benefit.

ok so what about all the citizens living off the system if you look at the real numbers which i did there are more citizens living off your money than illegals
