This is a really good post, I know what it's like to realise what you did made the difference to someone's life for the better and it's a really good feeling. If I could give this more than +3 I would :)
That is an awesome story. This is the kind of person that I think everyone should strive to be like. I really hope that I can make a difference in someone's life like that.
I've read this story before, but I read it again every time I see it. It just goes to show just how much difference one thing as small as a smile can help.
ive herd this story before, but the guy i herd it from sed it was his own and told it to the school. so either he lied to us or gwa2003 is him... which i dont believe
nah, ill admit, its not me. i just found it a while back and really thought it would be something that others would want to read, so i put it up on here.
A grade 6 teacher at my school always tells us about this story, and every year she puts together a little play about it, and its always such a beautiful thing.
It makes you wonder, how many small actions have so much impact? Who knows what people you know and care about would be like today if you did anything slightly differently...
The Truth:
This is not a true story. It's a piece of inspirational fiction by John W. Schlatter that was published in the best-selling book Chicken Soup For the Soul.
There are some differences between the Internet eRumor and the original published version, however.
The original was not written from the viewpoint of a first-person observer. It was about two boys named Mark and Bill. The original did not end with the emotional graduation speech but rather in a personal conversation.
