A friend of mine's dad went out of the world trade center for a cup of coffee at a nearby store...minutes before the tower was hit. That story was almost unbelievable-too good to be true but such is life. The attack was a message to the rest of the world of what we, as a whole, could do to become better people.
Every year on this day, my institution goes around our city to pay respects to the firemen and police men that protect us so well. I think in our day to day activities we often lost sight of the great lengths of effort of firefighters, EMT's, and police officers go through every day to protect us against any potential threats.
What happened today 10 years ago was terrible. I was only 5 years old so I never really understood at the time. Now I have grown up and heard more and more about it, I have understood more.
I cannot believe that anyone would try such a thing, plan such an attack. There is war, but then there is this kind of thing. That is plain cruelty. Not only did people following their normal working lives die in and around the towers, a number of people also had to deal with knowing what was going to happen, i.e Those who were in the hijacked planes.
This probably could have been prevented with tight security, but I am not one to blame such a thing. People do their jobs, and its anyone's mistake if a few terrorists get through. Yes, it should not have happened, but these things happen when you least expect it. No one is ever ready for such a thing to happen.
There are many things that have been said about this, conspiracies and the such. I don't really believe them. I do believe that it was just a terrorist attack. I seriously do NOT understand why though. Why does someone really believe that crashing a few planes and killing thousands of innocent people is necessary.
Rest in peace to the unfortunate souls that lost their lives in the towers, the Pentagon, AA flights 11 and 77 and UA flight 175. Thank you to the brave souls of UA Flight 93 that sacrificed their lives to ensure that another target did not get hit that day
I still get pissed off when people say it was fixed, in fact not too long ago I almost curb stomped a guy who was standing on street corner holding a sign that was praising the attacks as a victory for the jihad.

I don't care what people say, you need to brighten up a sad day with some sort of joke.
