2016 Olympics...
The 2016 Summer Olympics will now be hosted in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, if you did not know already.
And thank you people of America who criticize President Obama for going to Copenhagen to support YOUR country to host one of the world's biggest events, ass holes.

I'm pretty sure you said all American are assholes, so fuck you to start. I like Obama and I'm American. He has some problems but he's gonna do fine in the long run. Don't forget who he replaced. We have over 307 million people in this country. So if someone has a problem with the President, then it's gonna be a lot of people that have the same problem. If he wants to go to Denmark to fight for the Olympics, so what. He tried to get the Olympics and he didn't help, who cares. The South Americans deserve it. They have never had an Olympics. I forgot why I was mad and now I'm gonna stop. Thank You. +2 for topic -1 for calling all Americans asshole
whoa, i didnt call all americans assholes, just those who are criticizing obama for going overseas to try and get the olympics in chicago. I support Obama on most fronts and am also an American.
I agree that the South Americans deserve to host it, but would like to see an international sports event (such as the 2018 or 2022 World Cup) in the US in the next few years.
I am sorry if my wording was a little unclear, but i really do hate it when people still criticize someone for doing the right thing

I apologize for being rude and too harsh. I thought you were being careless in what you said earlier. That's just how I interpreted your comment. I'm not here to piss anyone off. It is a good topic and I like the fact that you clarified what you said. I agree that it would be cool for the World Cup to be in America again soon. Sorry, it wasn't personal.
yay! solutions! lets hug!
fuck you!
fuck you!
shit is going to be sick... can't wait
You all don't realize how much having the Olympics costs. It actually loses a country money. China lost 3.2million I believe, and where is all that money going to come from for ours? Taxpayers? We have a $10 TRILLION national debt, and haven't made a dent into dealing with that yet...it also costs a little under 1 million dollars in fuel costs to fly ONE WAY to Denmark from the U.S. in Air Force One. Its a 747...BFP (Big Fucking Plane). Not only that, but his wife took a seperate 747 the day before! God forbid they fly TOGETHER! That's 4million dollars in fuel costs! I'm damn glad we didn't get the Olympics, would just dig us into a deeper National-Debt-sized hole.
Each took $1mil in fuel to get there. That equals $2mil. I'm pretty sure they're not leaving a plane there so the trips back also cost $2mil, therefore, $4mil.
The thing is the country gets paid by the channels like CNN and Fox for broadcasting rights. Even more if its exclusive broadcasting.... that money comes back tenfold.
A plane like a Boeing 747 uses approximately 1 gallon of fuel (about 4 liters) every second. Over the course of a 10-hour flight, it might burn 36,000 gallons (150,000 liters). According to Boeing's Web site, the 747 burns approximately 5 gallons of fuel per mile (12 liters per kilometer).
A typical flight between Washington, DC and Copenhagen, Denmark would have a flying time of about 8 hours, 7 minutes.
Therefore 28,800 Gallons would be used, at $5.50 a gallon that would only equate to $158,400!

When Air Force One travels, they have like 4 other aircraft with them. One of them is identical to Air Force One, the others are c-17's (big ass military jets). I bet it costs more than one million to fly to Europe. Watch the documentary for yourself...www.hulu.com/watch/63240/air-force-one
Not really sure how much jet fuel costs, I was going by Silverblazes comment, but I can bet you that its pretty damn expensive.
